  • I have figured out the perfect division for Giant Habitats. Will update as soon as I have some time to write it down. (I'm waiting for my park to finish my last remaining giant habitats so I'll have pictures to go along with the description later. Still need 76 gems in total, so I hope that will be done in a week to 10 days from now)
  • I will update this blog to cover "Breeding for Cash" soon.

DRAFT VERSION OF GIANT HABITATS:

3x metal habitat 1x plant habitat 1x lightning habitat 2x air habitat 2x fire 2x water 2x cold 4x earth

They should hold you every dragon with some spaces to swap in case you want a dragon 2x to breed gemstones or whatever.

The epic habitats stay the same. For extra habitats, build tons of large rainbow habitats and fill them with double rainbow dragons if you log in once every few hours, or try the panlong park strategy I present later in this blog.

For breeding for cash; breed iron and magnetic dragons. They earn the most cash/time.

Hope this helps for a while.

Hello![]

This blog is a way for me to share my research about how to maximise dragon display (first priority) and getting the most dragoncash with the remaining habitats (second priority).

Please bear in mind that this is my first blog and it's a work in progress, especially since I am still unfamiliar with the source page as of yet. Feel free to send me some feedback in the comments or by sending me a message.

Background information[]

I've been playing Dragonvale since July 2012 and apart from some gemstones, I have bred all hybrid, limited and epic dragons. My parents started playing together on their own account, 2 weeks after I started.

I n

oticed that my park turned out more visualy oriënted and focused on displaying dragons, eggs and trophies like prizes. Probably because I'm a visual arts teacher and I'm a collector.

My dad, however, is an economist and I noticed the park my parents were working on was earning more money, even though there was almost no organisation and a lot of dragons would not be displayed. (Although he did spend some 'real world money' to give themselves a quick start)

After realising this, and reading around on this wiki for a while, I decided to make a plan which focusses on displaying prizes, and optimises the rest of the available space/habitats for dragoncash income.

I'm also doing this for my mother, since she keeps asking me 'what she should do', now that my dad is working a park of his own and left my mother with the old park. (Booooh)

With this reasoning, I will, step-by-step tell you how to make park that does the following:

  • Display all your dragons
  • Optimises the rest of the available space and habitats for maximum dragoncash income

I will also try to clearly explain why I made certain decisions. Feel free to adjust them to your own needs.

Step 1: Habitats for Basic and Hybrid Dragons[]

For the basic and hybrid dragons (this includes limited non-epic dragons) I prioritised on having as few habitats as necessary. This means that the Large Cold Habitat and theLarge Earth Habitat, which only hold 3 dragons, only appear once in my park. The other Large Habitats appear more often.

The following criteria would be Maximum Dragoncash. This means that theLarge Plant Habitat, which holds 4 dragons, but only 500 dragoncash, should appear not as often as theLarge Metal Habitat, which also holds 4 dragons, but a whopping 125.000 dragoncash.

Footnote: Even though the Large Fire Habitat holds less maximum money than the Large Water Habitat, there are far more fire dragons than there are water dragons. For this reason, there are more Large Fire habitats than Large Water habitats.

With these criteria, the total list ends up being;

Step 2: Assigning dragons to their habitats[]

Below, I will tell you how I arranged which dragons go to which habitats. However, if you feel like changing it up a bit, feel free to do so.

I recommend using the same habitats on the same island, so that you can use your boosting buildings more effectively. I hope it makes sense to you that that means to not put opposite habitats on the same islands.

Note; For some habitats, there is 1 spot leftover. This is for upcoming dragons or if you need to fill the spot for breeding purposes.

Note; Personally, I like to keep my dragons in babyform, so that when I need to fill the extra slot, I can put in an adult. That way I won't be confused which dragon I already have on display and which ones are double.

Step 3: Habitats for Epic Dragons[]

For the Epic Dragons, there's less variation needed. Since most Epic Dragons only have 1 element, there's little choice for you. Gemstone Dragons I won't even mention here, since they can only go to the Gemstone Island.

Step 4: Assigning Epic dragons to their habitats[]

It's pretty straightforward, but here you go

Apocalypse Habitat[]

  • Amount: 1
  • Open spaces: 1
  • Apocalypse Dragon

  • Note: Since there's an open spot, fill it up with a second Apocalypse dragon

Seasonal Habitat[]

Large Moon Habitat[]

  • Amount: 1
  • Open spaces: 0
  • Moon, Blue Moon and Lunar Eclipse Dragon

MoonDragonBaby BlueMoonDragonBaby LunarEclipseDragonBaby

  • Note: The Equinox and Solar Eclipse Dragon that I put in the Large Sun Habitat could also go in the Large Moon Habitat. However, since the Lunar Eclipse Dragon is the only one of which the Moon element is the 'first' element, I decided to put her here.

Large Sun Habitat[]

  • Amount: 2
  • Open spaces: 2
  • Sun, Solstice, Equinox and Solar Eclipse Dragon

SunDragonBaby SolsticeDragonBaby EquinoxDragonBaby SolarEclipseDragonBaby

  • Note: The Lunar Eclipse Dragon that I put in the Large Moon Habitat could also go in the Large Sun Habitat. However, since the Equinox and the Solar Eclipse Dragons are the ones where the Sun element is the 'first' element, I decided to put them here.
  • Note: The Lunar Eclipse, Solar Eclipse and Solstice dragons all earn 316 gold/minute on level 10. They should be the ones to fill the open spots. Sun and Equinox Dragons earn less than 316.

Large Rainbow Habitat[]

  • Amount: 2
  • Open spaces: 1
  • Rainbow, Leap Year and Celtic Dragon

RainbowDragonBaby LeapYearDragonBaby CelticDragonBaby

  • Note: Leap Year and Rainbow earn the most. One of them should fill the empty spot.

Step 5: Maximal Dragoncash Income[]

Alright. If you can do a little math, you know we've already used up 31 of our habitat-slots. However, the current maximum number of habitats is 44 (when you reach level 45). This means that you have 13 potential habitats that you could use to get more money.

I know you like that.

There are, in my humble opinion, 3 potential, good strategies that are focussed on Dragoncash income. I will talk about them briefly and give you the pro's and cons. Pick the one that suits you best.

Note: even though the strategies assume you use ALL of your habitats to get the most money as possible, you can just as easily use the strategy for your 13 remaining habitats and still profit.

Panlong Water/Earth Park[]

Morepanlongs

Lotso Panlong strategy for now

The Panlong Park Strategy is based on the high earning rate of the Panlong Dragon. Unboosted, it gets as high as 375 gold/minute at level 19 and 20.

There are 2 versions. The Earth Park and the Water park.

The idea for both parks is very similar. You put as many panlongs in a water or earth habitat, put the boosts for fire and water on there (not air or earth, since that would result in a negative. More info here) and collect a lot of money very quickly.

Pro's:

  • Highest income/habitat in the game
  • When leveling up Panlong dragons, you are helping to upgrade 4 of your shrines

Cons:

  • You need to collect the money very often to make sure the habitats don't overflow. At LEAST once/hour. This requires you to (be able to) log in many times a day.
  • The Panlong Dragon is no longer available for players after march 2013.
  • You cannot use your boosts on other islands to boost your other dragons.
  • As much as I like the dragon, I don't like to see a crowd of any dragon. Especially not 42 (or more) on the same island.

Rainbow Dragon Park[]

Rainbow Island

The double rainbow strategy is a little easier:

You put as many Large Rainbow Habitats anywhere you want. Fill it up with 2 Rainbow Dragons or Leap Year Dragons and you're done. Since this habitat has the highest maximum income of all habitats, it's perfect for those people that can (or will) only log in once a day or even skip a day sometimes. Every Habitat earns 800 cash/minute.

Pro's:

  • Highest maximum income/habitat in the game
  • You don't have to put all of them on the same island
  • No difficult thinking with boosts. Every habitat earns 800/minute. Period.
  • The dragons only have to be raised to level 10, instead of 20 for maximum income.
  • Double rainbow all the way across the sky

Cons:

  • The habitat is the most expensive one in the game
  • The other two strategies here earn money faster/minute

Sun Dragon Park[]

Solstice Dragon Breathing Fireballs

Well, I guess it could be a Moon Dragon park, or a Sun/Moon dragon park even. It's pretty similar to the Double Rainbow park.

There are 3 limited dragons that earn 316 gold/minute. These are the Solstice Dragon, the Lunar Eclipse Dragon and the Solar Eclipse Dragon.

The idea is to put 3 of them in a Large Sun/Moon habitat. That way the habitat fills at 948 cash/minute. (18,5% increase from the Rainbow strategy).

The Solstice Dragon is recommended here. It has the shortest breeding time of the 3 dragons mentioned above. The reason I call this a "Sun Park" is because the Solstice dragon can only go to a Sun Habitat, whereas the other two dragons could also go to a Moon Habitat.

As I log in only once every few hours, this strategy is my favourite. The habitat is never overflowing, but earns me a lot of gold anyway.

Pro's:

  • Earns more each minute than the Rainbow habitat
  • You don't have to put all of them on the same island
  • No difficult thinking with boosts. Every habitat earns 948/minute. Period.
  • The dragons only have to be raised to level 10, instead of 20 for maximum income.

Cons:

  • You will need to raise 3 dragons/habitat, compared to the 2 from the rainbow strategy.

Note: For full strategy, check here.

Step 6: Egg Display[]

Of course, collecting in Dragonvale is not limited to rare dragons and raising them. You can also collect statues and dragon eggs. Here, I'd like to show you several good ways to show off your Egg-display. Choose one that fits your taste, or make a picture of your own display and tell me about it. I could add it to the gallery. There are many options that haven't been tried yet.

Many people like to dedicate one entire island to their egg-display.

All rights to to their respective owners.

My (unfinished) egg display

And here is my own, personal, (unfinished) egg gallery:

I sort the eggs by primary element and cluster them together.

The 'golden' tiles are paths.

The black tiles are spots reserved for eggs I haven't collected yet.

Step 7: All the other stuff[]

First of all, I should give some credits:

  • My inspiration and the base of my plan comes from this blog. It's a very good plan if you want to use it. However, it would not work for me (as it was outdated when I started this blog). I decided to go more in-depth with this blog and allowing you more options. Go check it out if you have time though.
  • Also a quick shout-out to "AllHailKingMe", since she helped me out here and there to figure out the source-code of the site.
