Game Description
The ancient village of Kamgwa in the Shimmering Isles used to keep a shrine dedicated to the Great Wave. This enchanted tide would wash onto the island every summer, mysteriously bringing fresh water from the salty sea. This perennial event kept the villagers' farms watered and made permanent living on the island possible. We now know that this was likely the work of a migrating Tidal Dragon, which has been known to splash entire coastlines whilst playing. If only it knew that its annual playtime was responsible for an entire culture!

Possible References

  • In the Tidal Dragon's description "The ancient village of Kamgwa" is likely a reference to the woodblock print The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
  • The "enchanted tide" referenced in the Tidal Dragon's description is likely a reference to the monsoon winds and tidal patterns that cause annual rainfall in the summers of India and are a large part of their culture.
  • The "Affinty for the Moon dragon," mentioned in the Tidal Dragon's description, is possibly a reference to the relationship between the moon and tides.
