    Hello everyone,

It is me Bane Cane. The past week there was a discussion regarding concerns about the current vetting system and how it can be improved.

The discussion has come to a close and now there is a proposal to have a possible change to the vetting process on staff related nominations.

This will be a two part vote:

The first part of the vote is to choose between:

Option 1 (Current Process) or Option 2 (New Proposal)

The second part is to choose either Without Vetting or With Vetting in case Option 2 from the first part has more support.

There is only a slight difference in the proposal without vetting and the proposal with vetting so it is still considered one option to choose from in the first part of this vote.

Option 1 - Current Vetting Process:

    • Once the candidate has received support from the community for his/her candidacy, the Administrators will have one week to vet the candidate. All active administrators are asked to provide their insights into the candidate, based upon their observations and experience with the candidate.
      • Chat Moderators can take place in the vetting processes alongside Administrators involving selecting/removal a Chat Moderator. Wiki Moderators can take place in the vetting process involving selecting/removal of a Wiki Moderator.
    • The staff team will vote, a simple majority (50% + 1) will be require in order to pass the vetting.
    • At the end of the one week vetting period, if the candidate is not accepted for promotion, all who opposed must write a clear and candid reason for the denial on the vetting thread. This should include steps that the candidate could take to improve his/her chances for future consideration.
      • The candidate will then be allowed to take place in a one month probation period to prove to the those who chose to oppose that he or she can be trusted with the tools of the position. After the one month probation period a community vote and vetting process will take place again.
    • If the candidate is accepted for promotion, a bureaucrat will make the user rights changes. If there are no bureaucrats, then one of the administrators should send a message to Wikia staff at Special:Contact/general with a link to the discussion/vote and a request to promote the user.

    Option 2 - Without Vetting:

    • If at least 80.0% of the community votes in "Support" of a candidate then the candidate will automatically become a staff member on the DragonVale Wiki in that role.
    • If 60.0% to 79.9% of the community vote in "Support" of the candidate then the candidate will go through a one month probation period with the tools. At the end of the one month if more than 80.0% of the community votes in "Support" of the candidate keeping the tools the candidate will keep them. If less than 80.0% of the community votes in "Support" after the probation period the tools will be removed.
      • Users that do not support the candidate in the post-probation voting thread should list at least one point that the user could improve in the probation period, so that the user can use it to improve; the points should be reasonable and not being personal reasons.
    • If less than 60.0% of the community votes in "Support" in the vote then the candidate does not receive the tools or a probation period.
    • Candidates can be nominated again three months from the end of their probation/end of the vote.

    Option 2 - With Vetting:

    • If at least 80.0% of the community votes in "Support" of a candidate then the candidate will automatically become a staff member on the DragonVale Wiki in that role.
    • If 60.0% to 79.9% of the community vote in "Support" of the candidate then the process moves on to vetting. If the vetting results are 50.01% Support or more then no probation is necessary.
    • If the vetting results are 50.0% or lower then the candidate goes through probation, and then the community decides in the post-probation vote if the candidate keeps the tool.
    • At the end of the one month if more than 80.0% of the community votes in "Support" of the candidate keeping the tools the candidate will keep them.

Voters must be registered prior to June 24, 2014 to participate in this vote.

This vote will remain open until the end of the day on July 31, 2014 (23:59:59 UTC).
