I agree with you that the people voting do seem to be fairly new. I counted 6 new people, and 3 people with a drastic low post count that are not new. Most of the (6) new people have a few edits and then post at the vote. I guess there will be more new accounts that are going to vote on that topic and imo it should be looked into.
I agree with Essiw in that it seems odd so many accounts were made on the 27th.. But I guess I can see where wikia would think it is an abuse of power to ask them to check nine accounts. I understand that some non-registered users might make accounts so they could vote, but I guess it just seems odd that so many people would make accounts just to vote for something, but haven't made any other edits since the vote.
I could ask them and explain the situation on this circumstance, but they may think we are trying to take advantage of the tool. It might be different if there was clear or some kind of proof or more concrete hints leading to the suspicions for them to check. They won't check just for the sake of checking. Also, if we ask this time what is stopping from asking on all other cases. I think right now we should wait and see what happens with the vote.
I agree that it is a little suspicious, but it doesn't seem like enough is evidence for a possible request.
