Game Description
Cave drawings of the dodo dragon were first discovered on Mooretoss Island long ago by the great explorer Lewis Dodoson. They depict an ancient, flightless, and rather clumsy dragon. For centuries it was thought to be extinct, but we now know that while the dodo dragon may be rare, it is certainly not extinct! I wonder what other dragons have yet to be discovered!

Breeding

The Dodo Dragon can be bred by using any two dragons, in either order, containing the Earth and Air elements at any Breeding Cave.

Required Combos

The Dodo Dragon is required in the following breeding combos:

Breeding Opposites

Breeding an Earth Dragon or an Air Dragon with a Dodo Dragon will result in an Earth Dragon, an Air Dragon, a Sandstorm Dragon, a Whirlwind Dragon, a Khamsin Dragon, or a Dodo Dragon.

Dodo Dragon's Opposite: Sandstorm Dragon

Notes

  • The Dodo Dragon was released on April 13, 2012, as a hidden dragon, along with the Steel Dragon.
    • The Dodo Dragon appeared in the market on April 19, 2012.
  • On December 19, 2012, all of the opposite dragons disappeared from the market.
    • All of them reappeared in the market on January 14, 2013, when the Bring 'Em Back! event ended.
  • Although it has wing-like feathers on its back, the Dodo Dragon cannot fly, making it the only air element dragon that cannot do so.
  • Initially, the Dodo Dragon was available at level 14, but the level avilability was changed on October 9, 2013, to level 16.
  • On June 29, 2016, the Dodo Dragon's appearance changed.

Possible References

  • The fact that the Dodo Dragon cannot fly might be a reference to the real (extinct) Dodo bird, which also could not fly.
    • The Dodo Dragon's quest name "Fight or Fight", which is a play on the phrase "Fight or Flight", may also reference the dodo bird's inability to fly. It also possibly references how dodo birds were fearless of humans (lacking a "flight" response), which aided in their extinction.
  • The Dodo Dragon's description mentions “Mooretoss Island", which might be a reference to Mauritius Island the place where real (extinct) dodos lived.
  • The Dodo Dragon's description mentions "Lewis Dodoson," which might be a reference to Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland who wrote under the pseudonym of Lewis Carroll. It is thought that he caricatured himself as the Dodo in the book.
  • The Dodo Dragon being thought to be extinct is a reference to the fact that real life dodos are extinct.
