Notes
- The Smigi Dragon is the 710th dragon released on April 28, 2022 during The Dragon Bandwagon.
- The Smigi Dragon was released along with the Scryer Dragon and Stage Dragon.
- The Smigi Dragon's design was inspired by a fan submission in the Circus and Decorated Parks Double Community Contest by user beejeans#4060. The original design was called Tissu Dragon.
- In the first ever Origin Contest hosted by Deca Games on the DragonVale Community Forum, Deca revealed where the Smigi Dragon's name originates from: "The truth about this name is that the dragon was considered super duper cute by the entire team. When came the naming session, they had no direct idea and one of our team members suggested this name after his best friend's cat that looks just as cute."
- In December 2022, the DragonVale Community Forum and Deca Games hosted The Origin Contest - Winter Edition 2022. One of the contest questions asked what the gold 'rod' on the Smigi Dragon's egg represents. The Deca DV Team stated: 'The same ‘rod’ is in the texture of the adult/juvenile versions as well, but I don’t think it’s meant to represent anything specific, that was just an artist inspiration in the moment.'
Possible References
- The Smigi Dragon's description mentions "the Wizard and Witch duo, Jules and Lillian". Since the Smigi Dragon is likely based on a circus acrobat because of its "amazing acrobatic skills", Jules and Lillian could be a reference to two famous circus acrobats in history: Jules Léotard and Lillian Leitzel.
- According to The Rise and Fall of Lillian Leitzel, Circus Queen, Leitzel injured her legs in a fall early in her career, but completed a performance using just her arms. The Smigi Dragon walking primarily on its arms instead of its hind legs could reference Leitzel's story.
