- Sapphire is the birthstone for the month of September.
- The Sapphire Dragon is the first gemstone dragon not to have any wings.
- The Sapphire Dragon cannot breed with any other dragon, including breeding with another Sapphire Dragon.
- The Sapphire Dragon is the first adult dragon that is able to sleep.
- The Ruby Dragon and the Forest Dragon are also able to sleep, but only in the baby form while the Sapphire Dragon is able to sleep as an adult.
- The Daydream Dragon can also sleep as a juvenile and an adult.
- Initially, the Sapphire Dragon was available at level 14, but the level availability was changed on October 9, 2013, to level 16.
- On June 15, 2016, the Sapphire Dragon's description was slightly changed. The last line of the previous description was: "Sapphire dragons, like all gemstone dragons, cannot breed."
- On June 22, 2016, an extra line was added to the end of the Sapphire Dragon's description stating: "This dragon cannot breed at this time."
