Game Description
The Upside Down has taken carnivorous plants to a whole new level, but they still need sunlight to thrive, and rotblossoms are no exception. As soon as the sun goes down, these dragons go from looking like they could take on a glacier dragon, to looking like they can't take on a staircase. One feature that really stands out and has captured the imagination of the Wizards is the dragon's terrible claw and what its function might be.

Breeding

The Rotblossom Dragon can be bred by using a Thicket Dragon and a Decay Dragon, in either order, at any Breeding Cave.

Notes

• The Rotblossom Dragon was released on September 30, 2022 during Whitbee's Candy Bash IX: XI Hsab Ydnac S'eebtihw.
• In December 2024, the DragonVale Community Forum and Deca Games hosted The DV Lore Contest - Winter Edition 2024. One of the contest questions asked what influenced the Rotblossom Dragon's design. The Deca DV Team stated: 'Carnivorous plants, and in-general the idea of plants that decided they did not want to sit there and wait for the nutrients, but get them themselves.'

Possible References

• The Rotblossom Dragon's design seems to be inspired by Velociraptors due to its body shape and claws. This is also evidenced by the "terrible claw" mentioned in its description, which is the anglicized form of Deinonychus, a dromaeosaurid dinosaur closely related to the Velociraptor.
• Its colors and plantlike adaptations seem to be inspired by the Pigmy Sundew, a carnivorous plant which bears bright orange flowers.
