The Quamera Dragon is the 856th dragon released on September 5, 2024 during Summerthings Magical II.
On August 28, 2024, players were able to see the Dragonarium category and baby version of the Quamera Dragon in the Dragonarium.
- This was removed at daily reset on August 29, 2024.
On September 12, 2024, the Quamera Dragon received a size increase.
In December 2024, the DragonVale Community Forum and Deca Games hosted The DV Lore Contest - Winter Edition 2024. One of the contest questions asked where the Quamera Dragon's name originated from. The Deca DV Team stated: 'A little on the nose: quadruple chimera.'

The Quamera Dragon's design of each head having a different color may be a reference to its breeding hint and each head representing a different required element in its Breeding Hint.
- The blue head may be for the cold element, the brown head for earth element, the purple head for the lightning element, and the black and olive head for the dark element.
The Quamera Dragon's egg design may be a reference to its breeding hint containing the elements of earth, cold, lightning, and dark, as well as the classical elements of earth, fire water, and air.
- The design appears to section off earth, dark air/ether, ice water, and fire.
  - Lightning is an extension of air and ice water may represent cold.
