Pine Cones were collected in Camp DragonVale, so they could be traded in at the Campsite Merchant.
Pine Cones were also collected in Into the Wild, so they could be traded in at the Campsite Merchant.
Deca Games gave each player 
100 during the tutorial for Camp DragonVale.
Players were given an opportunity to find Pine Cones during normal game play by performing everyday activities.
Pine Cones cycles reset every 24 hours at approximately 17:00 UTC.
At the end of Camp DragonVale, any Pine Cones left in a player's park were converted to Dragon Cash.
