Game Description
Professor Olivine first discovered the peridot dragon while researching a thorny plant in the High Plains of Faridat. These proud and august creatures can be seen headbutting each other in the wild as a display of their strength and magnificence... or maybe they're just tired of being confused with emerald dragons. This dragon cannot breed at this time.

Breeding

The Peridot Dragon can only be bred by selecting a Crystal Dragon to mate with a Cactus Dragon at the Breeding Cave/Epic Breeding Island.

Notes

  • The Peridot Dragon was introduced to DragonVale on August 1st, 2012, along with the Olivine Obelisk as part of Update 1.8.0.
  • On December 18, 2012, the Peridot Dragon, and all other expired limited dragons and decorations, returned to the market as part of the "Bring 'Em Back" event.
    • The event was scheduled to end on January 2, 2013, but was extended; the expired limited dragons and decorations left on January 14, 2013.
  • Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August.
  • The Peridot Dragon cannot breed with any other dragon, including breeding with another Peridot Dragon.
  • The Peridot Dragon is the first Gemstone Dragon to use only three distinct elements for breeding.
  • The Peridot Dragon's description contains several references:
    • "These proud and august creatures" refers to August as the month of the Peridot Dragon.
      • The term august also means 'majestic', suggesting that the Peridot Dragon is a majestic dragon.
    • "Professor Olivine" is a reference to the magnesium iron silicate called olivine, the mineral that comprises peridot.
    • "The High Plains of Faradat" refers to the source of the word "peridot", which comes from the Arabic word “faridat” which means gem.
    • The mention of Professor Olivine discovering the Peridot Dragon while researching a "thorny plant" is likely a clue to the Cactus Dragon needed to breed this dragon.
