Hey man, thanks for creating the breeding sandbox! It has really helped me out a lot, and I am sure it has helped hundreds of other users too. I have a suggestion though, please add the %chance of getting a dragon when you select a parent. An example if I put parent 1 as Fire, and parent 2 as Plant, then it would be 50% chance poison, 50% chance flower. I understand this is a huge undertaking, and if you don't want to do it, that is fine, but I think it would greatly improve the breeding sandbox as a whole.
Thanks for your continual work on the sandbox for the community. I'm looking forward to seeing version 3!
I've been meaning to write you about this but haven't made the time until now: though the sandbox still says it's possible (and it defintely was once upon a time), a group of us have been testing and haven't found verifiable cases that we can duplicate Snowflake dragons nor Monolith dragons with epic to epic breeding. Have you heard anything similar?
I have 2 of each of the Snowflake and Monolith dragon, but just breed one of each with each other to try to get a duplicate of either. It's not a big sample size, but I was 0 for 25 for what the sandbox thinks should be anywhere from a 10% to 20% success rate. Detailed outcomes:
L15 Mono1 + L15 SF1 on island - 15 attempts: Forest, Geode, Geode, Orchid, Forest, Fog, Arctic, Blizzard, Forest, Ice, Seaweed, Tree, Blizzard, Geode, River
Bane, thank you very much for this opportunity, and thank you to everyone who supported! To be able to refer to the wiki as the sandbox's mommy and for it to now be officially true... it's a huge honor for me personally. Seriously... thanks everyone.
I'll work on the description, but some help with the image would be much appreciated!
Bane didn't ask me to do it, but I thought it would be funny to make it. If you like logo by the user Bane asked better, feel free to use that. It's okay for me, nothing personal. Congrats with the affiliation, and thank you for all your hard work.
Thanks Simen for taking initiative and helping out.
I personally think the image is great, but in the end it is up to Robo.
I had asked one other person, but I don't think they saw the message yet (since I didn't hear back about whether they were able to do it) so I just sent them another and asked them to disregard the first one.
r0b0-tr0n: Thanks for working so hard to get us all a working version of Epic + Non-Epic breeding!
I haven't run through too many combinations, but is the Snowflake type count as an element for breeding purposes? It looks like any of the Snowflake dragons (which I believe all contribute 3 base elements, cold + water + something) are all reporting as possibly giving a (Double) Rainbow dragon when paired with any of the base 3 elements they already contribute.
Additionally, a few (maybe all?) of the Primary dragons seem to be appearing as a possible outcomes when pairing with various Epic dragons. For example, Plant + Apocalypse, Earth + Autumn, Fire + Berry, Cold + Blue Moon, Lightning + Bronze, and Water + any Snowflake. Is that also intended?
JustinDaOne, is that you? I tested it some, but not much, I was just so happy to get it working. The Snowflake problem, I think I know what that is and should be easy to fix, the other one I'll have to look into. Thank you for letting me know!
No, I'm not Justin. I'm just a DV player, mostly active in the FB DV group community (friends with Shawn P.), but I try to contribute here and there to the larger DV community when I can.
In regards to Snowflakes, I'm not sure there's a problem: a person in the FB DV community reported getting a Double Rainbow with Snowflake 1 + Cold. However, I didn't see a screenshot of the parents, so it might be worth validating before you make any changes to that.
The combo finder for the Dream Dragon states that for the combiantion "Dream/Daydream & Dream/Nightmare" the percentage is higher for cave than island. Just wondering if this is correct, or should it be the other way round.
It makes sense that the island isn't better: the Dream dragons adds all elements to the breeding pool which allows for all available, unlocked, fixed-rate dragons to get included. The sum total of all those fixed rate dragons goes over 100%, so they all take a hit to bring the total % back down to 100%.
I was fooling around a bit looking whether I could begin to make sense of the effect of higher level breeding. Foolishly enough, perhaps, I didn’t check ‘your‘ percentages: I have always assumed that you would either get them from the code or had established these percentages using varied longitudinal testing.
Recently I discovered that, perhaps, these percentages aren’t as ‘solid‘ as I had believed them to be. I needed sixteen Seasonals. I bred them using two Seasonals, only on the Island. ‘Your’ success percentage is 20%. It took me 35 attempts to get the required sixteen. This being statistics, there is always a chance that this is the actual result. However: on 35 attempts the chance of getting more than fifteen successes when the chance is 20% comes to less than .06%.
Obviously my entire ‘’research” depends on your percentages being correct. Should I just flush it down the drain?
Perhaps we should: if the percentages are not from the code, I doubt that any real testing has been done since the breeding rules changed, late last year. Not sure whether this can be orchestrated, though. There are perhaps too many (epic) Dragons vs. not enough interest in the subject matter (statistics...) among the general population.
