Game Description
Despite its name, the melancholy dragon isn't actually gloomy -- instead, this droopy-looking dragon seems to be more like a sadness-soaking sponge. Visitors claim that spending time with this dragon actually seems to lift their spirits, as if the melancholy dragon absorbs their troubles. In fact, it's not uncommon for magical healers to prescribe an afternoon with this adorably mopey dragon to cure a case of blue-hoos. Whether it works or not, the gloomy dragon doesn't seem to mind the company.

Obtaining

The Melancholy Dragon can be obtained by collecting a total of 5,495 during Gardenia's Gathering of Roses.

During the Arcane Pentournament players were able to purchase the Melancholy Dragon for 4,105.

During Gardenia's Gathering of Roses 2017, players were able to purchase the Melancholy Dragon for 2,020.

During Gardenia's Gathering of Roses 2018, players were able to purchase the Melancholy Dragon for 3,495.

Breeding

The Melancholy Dragon can be bred using any two dragons, in either order, containing the Plant, Earth and Cold elements, at the Breeding Cave/Epic Breeding Island.

Notes

On January 27, 2016, the Melancholy Dragon's spot appeared in the Dragonarium, even though it had not been officially released into DragonVale yet.
- The button indicates "Not Available" and did not change even though the Gardenia's Gathering of Roses event started on January 28, 2016. Players would only be able to view the Melancholy Dragon's infobox in the Dragonarium once he/she obtains it by trading a certain amount of roses at the Rose Depot.
The Melancholy Dragon was released along with the Vale-N-Tine Victorium, Gardenia's Gallery of Games, Serenity Dragon, Ire Dragon, Delight Dragon, Berrywhite Tree, Aura Habitat, Bouquet Bubbler, Ardent Archway, Gardenia's Island, and the Rose Depot.
