The Maelstrom Dragon is the 904th dragon released on May 15, 2025 during Deepest Depths II.
On May 14, 2025, a leak resulted in the Maelstrom Dragon being prematurely released, causing it to appear in the Deepest Depths II event market under the name "maelstromdragon.displayname".
- The Maelstrom Dragon was quickly removed from the "Limited" section of The City of Atlantis, but during this time some players were able to obtain a Maelstrom Dragon by buying it for 12,500.
- Until its formal release date, the Maelstrom Dragon's description said, "maelstromdragon.description".
- An image of its egg also appeared in the "Goals Menu" with the words "goal_maelstromdragon.displayname" and "goal_maelstromdragon.description".
- Players were able to "clone" the Maelstrom Dragon for approximately one day between the leak and its official release through Cooperative Breeding.
