- The Gatren Dragon is the 614th dragon released on October 29, 2020 during Whitbee's Candy Bash VII: The Haunted Harvest.
- The Gatren Dragon was released along with the Kwall Dragon, Malefice Dragon, and Maw Dragon.
- When the Gatren Dragon was first released, it did not have the Plant element. On an unknown date soon after, it gained the Plant element, which temporarily made it one of the few dragons with five elements.
- On February 1st, 2022, the Gatren Dragon had its plant element removed.
- The Gatren Dragon's design was inspired by a fan submission in the July 2020 Community Contest by user U/K1LLALLRATS. The original design was called Dripstone Dragon. The design can be seen here.
- The Gatren Dragon is DECA's first Fan-Inspired Dragon from the community.
Possible References
- Deca Games stated in an Ask Us Anything Session on May 21st, 2021 that the Gatren Dragon's name is Elvish and likely comes from the Sindarin word gwathren, which means shadowy, dim, for "shadowy" or "dim", referring to its "overall darkness".
- The Gatren Dragon's quest is called "When Life Gives You Limestones". This is likely a pun on the proverbial phrase "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade," substituting in limestones as an additional pun on limes being a counterpart to lemons, while also referencing the Gatren Dragon's connection to caves in its description (since most cave systems are found in limestone bedrock).
