Evolution is a game mechanic in DragonVale that allows a player to evolve a certain unique dragon into another unique dragon if certain conditions are met.
Evolution was introduced on October 12, 2018 via the addition of the Corrupticorn, Porcelain and Wrath dragons.
Most dragons currently require 100 to evolve from their base dragon form into their evolved dragon form outside of events which include them.
- During an event which includes the base dragon and evolved dragon, it may be possible to evolve the base dragon with that event's event currency.
The evolution requirements for the Dracomancy Dragons sequentially cost 200, 250, and 1,900.
Evolved dragons keep the same level as the base dragon it was evolved from post evolution.
Evolution does not change a base dragon's state of being a twin dragon or remove/add traits from the base dragon.
- If the base dragon is a twin dragon, then the evolved dragon will be a twin dragon.
- If the base dragon has a trait, then the evolved dragon will have the trait.
Evolution Conditions[]
There are three main methods of evolution. Different dragons need different conditions to evolve.
Ornament Evolution[]
Some dragons require the presence of a collection of ten differently-colored ornaments in the player's park to evolve.
Food Evolution[]
Some dragons require certain food to be grown, but not harvested, in their park, alongside a specific decoration. These dragons may also require the presence of one or more other specific dragons in the same habitat to evolve.
Ghostly Evolution[]
Some dragons require an Effigy decoration to be placed in the player's park before they can evolve.
Other Evolutions[]
Some evolution dragons require the presence of a single affiliated decoration which is neither an effigy nor a planter.
Dragons Capable of Evolution[]
During events which feature a base dragon and its possible evolution, the evolution cost may use event currency instead of gems.
