DragonVale has events in which players collect special treasure to spend in that event's event market.
The first use of event currency was in 2013 when Backflip Studios held the Light Magic Event and Dark Magic Event.
Backflip Studios continued to hold events with different event currency until they closed.
DECA Games started to hold events in 2020 with both prior and new event currency.

- Event currency can be purchased with real world money during events in the "Treasure" section of the Market during the current event it is actively being used in.
- The first time the first event currency, Magic, was used since its introduction in October 2013 was in July 2017.
- Epic Eggs, Mythic Eggs, and Magic Eggs since 2018 have the same appearance.
- The Magic Egg Hunt used the original Magic Eggs.
- Certain events such as The Om of Noms, The Om of Noms 2, and The Om of Noms 5 did not have event currency, but had limited content available to breed or buy.
- While not an event currency, Runestones are a specific currency associated with events which require it to activate Runic Breeding Caves.
- Similar to event currency, Runestones are sometimes given through event daily login rewards and can be purchased with real world money.
