Eggy Hatchy is a mini game available during some events which first debuted during Camp DragonVale. When available, it can be played on a separate island located above the galaxy islands.
A selection of eggs appear on a grid, and they must be "bred" and "banked" to complete various goals. Tickets are required to play stages in Eggy Hatchy and regenerate every half hour, up to a maximum of 5 tickets.
Tutorial[]
The tutorial (from Camp DragonVale) and the help menu of Eggy Hatchy can be viewed in the gallery below:
Game Instructions[]
- Playing the game requires tickets. Tickets are given 1 per 30 minutes, capping at 5. They can also be purchased with real money.
- To "breed" two eggs, they must be in the same row or column with no other eggs in between.
- If an egg is selected, to unselect it, tap a square that is neither vertically nor horizontally accessible.
- Twin eggs doubles the score of normal eggs.
- Breeding is simulated in the same way as in the actual game, except that merging two identical eggs will always give that same egg.
- Before merging, players are shown the range of possible point values for the outcome.
- Only dragons which are currently available can be the result of a "breed".
- If either egg being merged is a twin, the result will also be a twin.
- The level of the merged egg is the sum of the levels of the merging eggs, except that merging two identical eggs will add a bonus level.
- Banking an egg removes it from the board. Only eggs that are banked will count towards the stage goal(s).
- Gemstone and crystalline dragons, as well as any eggs at Level 20, must be banked.
- Higher stages in the game tower require a certain number of points to unlock.
- It is possible to complete one stage but not score enough points to unlock the next. In this case, the player will have to replay previous stages to score more points.
- It is currently not possible to keep and hatch any dragon eggs from the game.
Stage Goals[]
- Element and level requirement: The player must bank a certain number of eggs with a certain element and minimum level.
- Example: The player must collect 2 lightning element eggs at level 4 or higher.
- Stage total point requirement: The player must score a minimum number of points overall by banking eggs.
Strategies[]
- Elemental acquisition is a little luck based.
- Save required element last: If the goal requires a Plant element, identify the Plant eggs on the board. If a level 3 or 4 is needed, start 3 or 4 eggs away so the last merge can be with an egg with the required element. It seems to work more often than not.
- Similarly, if there are two element goals, then try to end the required number of merges with a hybrid dragon of the two wanted elements for a chance to kill two birds with one stone.
- For a "get points" strategy: Breeding 2 eggs with 4 different elements will more often result in a rare hybrid egg worth 6,000-10,000 points more than breeding with fewer elements.
- However, this also makes it less likely that a desired element will be preserved.
- Between points and eggs goals: Sometimes while working towards but not yet achieved an egg goal, one may get a rare hybrid, twin rare hybrid, or even an epic egg that is worth a lot of points needed for the points goal. It will depend on what is left on the board to decide whether banking the egg at this point or continuing with breeding (and possibly lose the egg's rarity and the high points) may be better for completing the stage. If hard to decide, one may want to leave the eggs and try other breeds on the board to see how things go.
Power-Ups[]
- Power-ups can be activated if the merge occurs by passing over it.
- There are two types of power-ups; twin power-up and treat power-up.
- The twin-power-up will turn the result from merging the two eggs into a twin making the score worth double.
- The treat-power-up will increase the level of the result from merging the two eggs by 2.
- Power-ups are placed at random and may not always be obtainable.

Camp DragonVale[]
The Towers have typical Camp inspired names during Camp DragonVale.
Tundral Rumble[]
The Towers have winter-inspired names during Tundral Rumble.
- The names were Snowy Stadium / Arctic Amphitheater challenge names in previous years (some of which were also names in the Dragon Track, for example, Wintery Whiteout).
From December 10, 2020 to January 10, 2021, there were 3 towers daily, with a total of 20 different towers:
- The stage rewards were standardized:
- Instead of all 4x4 boards and mostly point+element(s) goals:
- Stage 1 and stage 2 were 3x3 boards with point goals.
- Stage 3 was 4x4 board in most Towers and 3x3 in a few, and could be point only or point+(single) element goals.
- Stage 4 and stage 5 were 4x4 boards with point+(single) element goals.
Starting on January 11, 2020, the three towers were named Beginner, Novice, and Grandmaster, in increasing order of difficulty. The more difficult towers gave out more event currency.

The Spectacular Spectacle[]
The number of Towers changed to 2 Daily Towers and 1 Weekly Tower.
- The names were Basic, Advanced, and a weekly name.
- The Tower rewards were standardized:
- Basic Tower - 3 Levels:
20,
40 on double;
20,
40 on double upon completion
- Advanced Tower - 3 Levels:
80,
160 on double;
80,
160 on double upon completion
- Weekly Tower - 10 Levels:
120;
1,200 upon completion, as well as a free decoration.
- The 1st weekly tower (The Spiral of Joy) rewarded the Guardian's Gate,
- The 2nd weekly tower (The Spiral of Cheer) rewarded the Pool of Screams,
- The 3rd weekly tower (The Spiral of Amusement) rewarded the Altar of Awakening,
- The 4th weekly tower (The Spiral of Bliss) rewarded the Wisp Lantern,
- The 5th weekly tower (The Spiral of Delight) rewarded the Trimeric Torches,
- The 6th weekly tower (The Spiral of Glee) rewarded the Mirror of the Triptych,
- The 7th weekly tower (The Spiral of Amazement) rewarded the yet to be released Popcorn Stand and lasted only 4 days
- Basic Tower were 3x3 boards with point goals.
- Advanced Tower were 4x4 boards with point+single element goals.
- Weekly Tower were 4x4 boards with point+single element goals.
- Basic Tower - 3 Levels:
- Once per day the market offered a free ticket by watching an advertisement.
- Average daily total was:
582.85 (
80 [Basic] +
160 [Advanced] +
342.85 [Weekly])
- Strategies: Different strategies may work for different players and patience and a little luck are required, but here are some possible tips:
- Notes:
- Breeding percentages are radically different in eggy hatchy vs. the caves
- Golden hybrids / epics can be bred more often
- Watch the total points as sometimes banking remaining eggs will give required points instead of breeding attempts
- Use the replay ad to help undo one move to try another move. This is useful near the end of clearing a level when points or match is close.
- Basic Tower:
- Aim for 4-element combos; pick two eggs with 4 unique elements
- Some players have noted that following that strategy gives me all the points for all three levels 4 out of 5 days
- Bank Golden Hybrids and Epics
- Advanced Tower
- Merge two non-required elements first and continue up to max number elements needed minus 1. Following that process may give a golden hybrid or epic, so bank it.
- If not, then merge it with the required element. IOW, use the required element last.
- The first two advanced levels may get success > 50% of the time. The third advanced tower may take 4 or 5 tries to get it, again following that same strategy.
- Weekly Tower
- The weekly tower strategy is similar to the Advanced Tower
- Some mid levels may be easier to complete than beginning towers, so if a level has failed, collect as many points as possible to open up higher levels.
- Notes:

Notes[]
- On August 16, Eggy Hatchy was availible to play as a .fix before Camp DragonVale, and gave out 123 gems and 123 treats per win.
- The Eggy Hatchy was introduced during Camp DragonVale.
- Despite Eggy Hatchy only being available to play during some events, a bug in the game allowed players to access the Eggy Hatchy menu if the screen was tapped in the right place. If players accessed the Eggy Hatchy menu using this method during times when it is not available, then the 'Towers' screen will be empty.
