Winter Saga: Chapter 1

On a cold and blustery night, several Valers gathered to concoct a hot drink to warm the soul. It was chocolaty and creamy and required constant stirring to keep the perfect consistency. A nibwhip dragon waddled out from behind a rock, sniffing and gulping the air. The witches and wizards welcomed it and promised a taste if it helped stir the delicate brew. The nibwhip dragon obliged and stirred through the night while the magicfolk went home to rest up for the festivities in the morrow. Little did the dragon know; there was something lurking in a nearby forest. The sounds of branches breaking and leaves scattering circled the cauldron and the tasty drink…

Winter Saga: Chapter 2

Sometimes, even dragons can get lost in a forest. If their wings are too stiff to fly above the treetops, it can cause quite the panic... it's even worse if they have no wings at all. This happened to one unfortunate gulletail dragon, as it wandered and shivered in the night, looking for any relief from the bitter cold. It smelled what could only be a hot treat and followed its nose to a clearing. It found an oblivious nibwhip dragon stirring a witch's cauldron, billowing with steam. The gulletail dragon circled the clearing, trying to distract the helpful dragon with ominous noises. The nibwhip dragon finally broke its concentration and left the cauldron unattended to search for the cause of the ruckus. The gulletail dragon licked its lips and slithered toward the chocolaty goodness…

Winter Saga: Chapter 3

High in the treetops is where lokilure dragons love to perch. They tend to prefer a view of everyone and everything. No one knows the reason why, but one example has helped to clarify this question. On the eve of the first great celebration, a lokilure dragon spotted a gulletail dragon inches away from gulping down an entire batch of chocolate brew. It had seen magicfolk and even a nibwhip dragon working on it all night, so it decided to trick the thieving creature and preserve the dedication invested in the work. It shook its horns and tail to mimic a dinner bell Valers often used. The gulletail dragon perked up with stomach grumbling, and sped off toward the sound of the bell. The lokilure dragon snickered as it watched from above. As the nibwhip dragon returned from a fruitless search to continue its task, the lokilure dragon puffed out its chest and raised its beak with pure pride.

Winter Saga: Chapter 4

Meanwhile in the Vale, a crooning chorus walked down a snowy path, giving houses and the families inside a sample of their jolly carols. Their angelic voices rang throughout the town and intrigued a nearby libretto dragon. It peeked and saw the travelling singers, but didn't want to be left out. The curious creature followed the tunes, but stayed a few steps behind to remain unseen. When the group hit a high note, the libretto dragon couldn't restrain its enthusiasm and let out a squawk for the ages. The troop of troubadours spun around hastily to see a bashful dragon wanting to be included. They welcomed it with kind gestures and invited it to join as they kept on spreading cheer…

Winter Saga: Chapter 5

In a deep dark cave, an avarice dragon lay tossing and turning on a bed of DragonCash. It appeared that slumbering comfort was greatly out of reach for this poor bedraggled being. Finally, it had found the perfect spot and its eyelids slowly closed. As soon as a genuine snore bellowed out of its snout, the loudest squawk in the Vale echoed everywhere. The avarice dragon's eyes popped open; it stood straight up, and banged its head on a low-hanging stalactite. It groaned and snarled with hackles standing on end. It marched toward the mouth of the cave to find the cause of its unpleasant awakening, yet there was nothing there. It took flight and soared over the Vale until it spotted a boisterous choir and a contributing libretto dragon. It let out a giant roar that scattered the singers and even made the libretto dragon hide. Satisfied, the avarice dragon flew back home to its cave…

Winter Saga: Chapter 6

That very same night, a sugarplum dragon wandered in search of flowers that reflected the moonlight. It came across a cluster of lunar-luminescent lilies that inspired the dragon to grin and skip. It plucked some and placed them between scales and fur to enhance its luster. It let out a happy little chirp. A barrage of footsteps grew louder and louder until an avarice dragon appeared at the peak of anger. The sugarplum dragon recoiled, but soon saw the red, droopy eyes and sullen stance of the creature. The sugarplum dragon approached the weary one and saw its unforgiving living quarters. In no time at all, the sugarplum dragon had gathered straw and grass to form a much more comfortable bed for the avarice dragon. The avarice dragon inspected the bed as if it were a trap, then placed one paw gently on the bedding. It was soft. The avarice dragon plopped down and sighed heavily. The sugarplum dragon was so delighted it leaped and twirled with glee. Incidentally, this celebratory dance hypnotized the avarice dragon into a deep sleep.

Winter Saga: Chapter 7

If there's one dragon that will help magicfolk make delectable edibles, it's the saccharine dragon. Some say its breath has amazing powers to sweeten anything on a plate. Others say it only needs to be in the vicinity of food for flavors to be enhanced. But on this magical night, the famous Confection Coven needed all the help they could get. They sent up a gumdrop flare to signal any nearby saccharine dragons and luckily one came to the rescue. When it arrived, it took one look at a table filled with burned cookies, melted candies, and drooping cakes. It exhaled a single blast of magic that exploded in a shower of sprinkles and icing. When the sugar cleared, the table was bursting with perfect desserts that now almost looked too good to eat. The coven gazed at the miracle, but was suddenly startled by a loud thud under the table. It bumped again and they all scattered in fear the saccharine dragon's power was about to backfire…

Winter Saga: Chapter 8

When wizards speak about burglehoo dragons, it always has a sharp tone. No one knows what to expect with these creatures, but they have been seen slinking and stalking with the intention of remaining hidden. There is a family that will attest that these dragons have hearts that grow three times bigger than any magicfolk. This family was hungry and their fireplace had grown cold. They couldn't get a flame lit with magic nor muscle. A burglehoo dragon just happened to pass and saw that these folks needed more than a little help. BOOM! Just then, a gumdrop flare fanned in the sky and this dragon knew just what to do. It snuck its way through the Vale until it saw an entire table filled with goodies. While a sugary plume clouded the confections, the burglehoo dragon slithered on its belly and snuck under the table undetected.

Only a few moments later, the hungry family heard a knock on their door. When they opened it, they saw a sweet feast waiting for them on a large table. They also saw the table had been dragged in the snow for some distance, accompanied by dragon tracks.

Winter Saga: Chapter 9

Trepak dragons are a dignified bunch and it's not just the uniformity of their coat. They enjoy organizing the efforts of their fellow dragons. So when one trepak dragon had seen Valers and dragons working together, it was beyond delighted. It sought out the cauldron of chocolate brew to taste it, but it had grown cold. It then tried to find the carolers that had adopted a libretto dragon in their vocal vocation. All it could find were frightened singers who had disbanded and sought shelter to avoid a threat from above. The trepak dragon then ventured toward the triumphant treat display that would soon garner much attention, but what it found was a few smashed desserts on the ground where an entire table had apparently been stolen. The trepak dragon snorted and marched straight to the dragons that apparently left evidence of their participation in these shady shenanigans.

Winter Saga: Chapter 10

It was almost midnight and the Vale was quite quiet. A jadice dragon perched high on a mountaintop, looked at the moon, then down to the blank venue that should have been fully decorated by this time. It could see by the faintest of sight, a trepak dragon had gathered a somewhat peculiar group of dragons in the center of town. The jadice dragon swooped in, right in the middle of an apparent stare-down. The jadice dragon approached the trepak dragon and intercepted the glare. Avarice, gulletail, lokilure, and burglehoo dragons all stepped back with reverence when the jadice dragon separated the group. Just then, the jolliest of wizards interrupted. It was Sandakloz and he wanted to set things straight. Witches and wizards gathered to hear him speak.

He explained how no dragon is wholly bad and no dragon is purely good, much like the witches and wizards they lived with. Sandakloz gave each dragon a medal with the letter “N” emblazoned upon it and said, “Remember, each day we have the option to be naughty or nice. But no one except ourselves, can be the bearer of that change.”

From that moment on, dragons of all kinds and magicfolk from around the Vale worked together to revive the Vale. As dawn snuck up, a winter wonderland was revealed! That night forged a tradition that still thrives to this very day. The festival may have a different name from time to time, but the spirit remains the same.

Gardenia's Color Guard: Cold

Lumi sped over hilltops and around trees on a dangerously fast ice sled. This normally brought joy to the pint-sized witch, but she was dedicated to the search of her dear friend. She heard a fiery blast in the distance and turned to locate the source of the sound. CRASH! Her ice sled collided with a frozen patch of begonias and sent her flying headfirst into a snow bank.

When she pulled herself out, a baby begonia dragon charged toward her with the widest grin. The baby dragon tackled her and pushed her completely through the snow bank. It licked her face incessantly until Lumi was a cacophony of laughter and tickled gibberish.

They were so enamored with their instant bond, they chased each other, played hide and seek, and cuddled in the cold. The begonia dragon smelled food in Lumi's pocket and jabbed its nose in, unabashedly searching for the snack. Lumi writhed with giggles until her wand fell to the ground. It landed on ice, glowed, and projected a hologram of Gardenia decorating for the Gathering of Roses.

Lumi and the baby begonia dragon stopped playing and watched. The baby dragon saw Lumi's smile fade to a frown. While Lumi got lost in her grief once more, the baby dragon continued to rummage through Lumi's pockets. Lumi was not amused, but soon saw the dragon pull out a star pod treat. It gobbled it down and instantly grew into a juvenile.

The begonia dragon lowered its wing, which was now three times as big, and beckoned Lumi to climb on. She did and they continued their search from the sky with proud proficiency.

Gardenia's Color Guard: Plant

Noel DePlante knew Kaleni was scouring the soil, Nogard was embroiled in spelunking, Lumi was scanning from the sky, and Whitbee was searching for sunken secrets. So Noel decided to go back to where it all started, Gardenia's fractured island.

He spotted a vibrant mass sticking out from the broken ground. He cast a spell to dissect the rock and what emerged made his jaw drop. A pristine and fully-grown amaryllis dragon levitated in between the two island halves.

Soon, a flood of roses poured out from the hole where the dragon was stuck. They were red, bright red! Against the vast starkness, this was monumental. The amaryllis dragon, with eyes closed, flew in circles and created a vortex that lifted the roses up. Noel acted quickly and cast an entanglement spell that bridged the two halves of the island with vines. It caught the falling roses and carried them safely to solid ground.

The amaryllis dragon flew next to the wizard and laid out its wing to direct Noel's attention to the pile of red roses. On the ground, browns and greens were growing brighter! Noel picked up a few blossoms and threw them around. Everywhere a rose fell, color spread.

The amaryllis dragon, still sightless with eyes shut, gestured to the entire colorless Vale. Noel smiled and conjured a sack made of leaves. He tied it to the dragon's back and filled it with roses. He tore the bottom open and waved to the dragon.

The dragon took off flying around all the islands of the Vale. Roses fell one by one. When they touched the ground, color was restored. Noel watched with glee as his home returned to its natural state: bright and full of energy.

Noel laughed with glee then squinted to see something in the distance. It looked like a green hat with a purple sash atop blonde hair…

Gardenia's Color Guard: Lightning

A giant phantom eyeball scanned the Vale in every direction above the treetops and buildings. It rotated all around, constantly surveying until it locked on a location. It then descended slowly toward the ground and melted into the raised wrinkly hand of the wizard Whitbee.

Whitbee opened his eyes and decidedly marched toward the spot his spell had marked. He hobbled through brambles and branches and arrived at a still pond. The grey water was an unlikely place to find Gardenia and when that observation sunk in, Whitbee sighed heavily. He heard gurgling and pounded his chest as if it were indigestion, but he soon looked up to see bubbles surfacing in the middle of the pond.

He pointed his gnarled staff at the water and summoned several lightning strikes around the perimeter. The water was instantly evaporated. Down at the bottom was a single gathering of cyclamen flowers. Whitbee dropped his staff to his side and muttered, “What did I expect?”

As he walked away, a raucous flapping deafened him and a wild blue blur landed in his path. Whitbee froze. As he gathered his wits, he determined it could only be a sullen cyclamen dragon. It stared at the wizard, but didn't blink.

Whitbee transmuted the head of his staff to represent Gardenia, pointed to it, and gestured all around them with a shrug. The cyclamen dragon's eyes watered and it walked away. Whitbee didn't understand and was left alone. He stumbled to keep up with the dragon and found it had stopped at a lake. The cyclamen dragon nodded toward the water. “I guess it's worth a shot,” Whitbee mumbled. He blasted the lake with lightning, but there was nothing at the bottom.

The dragon led Whitbee to a river, then a stream, and even a puddle. But there was no point. Nothing was under these bodies of water. Whitbee sat on a log, exhausted. The cyclamen dragon lied down next to him and rested its head on his lap.

Gardenia's Color Guard: Earth

After the color had been sucked out of the Vale, Kaleni wandered around in disbelief. He had never seen such a drastic hex take hold. Gardenia was one of the most powerful witches and if this magical force expelled her, how would they ever fix it?

While Kaleni was lost in thought, he saw a flower that was green, yellow, and purple. He walked closer with mouth agape. As he reached down to touch the plant, a part of it popped up from the ground. It wasn't a flower at all, but a dragon's head!

At that moment, Kaleni knew there was hope. If a dragon could hold on to its color, maybe it could help fix the whole Vale. The dragon sniffed and looked around, confused and out of place. Kaleni didn't recognize it. It looked like a daffodil but didn't respond to the name. Kaleni tried several variations until arriving at daffadowndilly. The dragon excitedly ran around him in circles.

After having figured out its proper name, Kaleni showed the dragon a scroll with Gardenia's picture. The daffadowndilly dragon jumped up and down and ran back to where its head was stuck. It tried digging into the ground, but all it found was dirt.

Kaleni contacted other House Witches and Wizards and spread the word that these undiscovered flower dragons may hold the key to Gardenia's disappearance.

Gardenia's Color Guard: Fire

Nogard was tromping through the woods looking all around for any smidgen of color. He was looking up to the grey sky when he heard a gravelly roar that nearly caused him to topple over in fright. He turned to see a pair of gleaming eyes in a bushel of petunias.

He steadily backed away, but the dragon leaped out to greet him. This time Nogard did fall. The petunia dragon snarled, stared, and then sniffed the wizard. The dragon backed up and let the wizard stand. Nogard unfurled a scroll with Gardenia's likeness inked on it and showed it to the creature. The petunia dragon looked and raised an eyebrow at Nogard.

The dragon looked around and pointed toward a cave with its snout. Nogard bowed as a sign of deferment and the petunia dragon led the way. At the mouth of the cave, the dragon waited for the wizard to catch up. It simply stared as Nogard looked into the dark void. The dragon tapped a talon and waited for the wizard to do something. Nogard realized the creature was waiting and drew his wand. “Oh, right. Sight might be useful.” Nogard cast a spell and turned his wand into a torch. They ventured into the cave together.

The petunia dragon grunted and ran ahead of Nogard, but was consumed by darkness. It angrily roared which shook the cave, along with Nogard's sense of safety. The wise wizard took it as a sign and quickly conjured sheets of fire to cover the entire labyrinth of cavern walls. The petunia dragon was visible again and smirked.

Hours later, they emerged with heads hung low. Nogard flipped over the parchment with Gardenia on it and summoned a map to show all other cave locations. He marked an X on one and pointed to another. He and the petunia dragon looked at each other and nodded.

The Secret of Strength

A giant metal slab rumbled on the kid-conjured island, created to combat rogue spellform energy. The metallic formation shook again. A crack split open, sending splinters in all directions. An armament dragon's head emerged and roared with great power. A darcowl dragon's tail slapped over the shouting dragon's mouth. The armament dragon furrowed its brow as the darcowl dragon revealed itself and slowly removed its tail.

The darcowl dragon broadened its stance and morphed into its organic spellform, creating a veil in front of its newfound friend. Seconds later, Kai walked by to collect the Parade Gardens' Magic accrual. The armament dragon broke out of its immovable trap and roared in triumph. The darcowl dragon again muzzled the loud-mouth dragon with its tail.

After Kai moved on to check Gardenia's Gamery, the darcowl dragon attempted to usher its friend to hidden safety, but it wouldn't follow. The armament dragon peered off into the dark purple sky and wandered closer and closer to the island's edge. It was if the dragon was following a call no dragon or wizard could hear.

The darcowl dragon tried to grapple the wandering dragon's legs. The armament dragon was too strong and kept lumbering toward imminent calamity…

The Secret of Flight

Bursting through cloud after cloud, an outrider dragon saw the poorly constructed island in the distance. A soft glow pulsed from it and the dragon sped up. As it flew through more purple fog, the dragon noticed its wings started changing; they thinned out and sharpened at the tips. Its head grew sleek adornments and the dragon tried to look up to see what was happening.

The outrider dragon accidentally barrel rolled while trying to view its new form and quickly realized its augmented flying proficiency. It created a sonic boom as it made an expedited trip to the pulsing island.

As soon as the outrider dragon approached the island, it saw a darcowl dragon waving its tail while alternating forms. The darcowl dragon pointed down with its tail and the outrider dragon looked. It shook its head and shouted. The darcowl dragon motioned again. The outrider dragon dove straight down piercing fog with increasing density until it popped through and saw the Zephyrlands, a region once categorized by ancient wizards from the Surface.

A giant cliff loomed over the land and was split down the center, violently spewing purple fog into the air. The outrider dragon sped to the leak and zoomed in circles near the source. The aimless energy was captured in a cyclone and was prevented from rising up. The outrider dragon stopped to stare at its accomplishment, but the cyclone quickly dissipated, and the energy continued to flow up. The dragon started back up and maintained its perpetual and circular flight pattern…

The Secret of Voltage

Lost in the spellform energy clouds, a sparkles dragon flew aimlessly, seeking shelter wherever it could. It heard a loud whirring and the occasional yelp. The dragon flew toward the sound, still hindered by limited visibility. It broke through a cloud and saw a spellformed outrider dragon caught in a looping flight pattern. The sparkles dragon squinted, arched its shoulders, and sped toward the victim in the wind. It cut through cloud after cloud until it pierced the last one in between it and the outrider dragon. ZAP! A bright bolt of lightning struck the sparkles dragon while energy encased it.

The sparkles dragon went limp and plummeted. The passing air ruffled its fur and tossed its limbs. It was feet away from the hard ground when it suddenly stopped falling. Its body levitated and righted itself. When its arms tensed, blue lightning emanated from its talons. Now, with smoky gray scales and untamed electricity seeping out, the dragon's eyes popped open. It focused on the split mountain spewing purple energy so bright and constant, that it looked like a sun.

The sparkles dragon flew straight to the mountain and charged its entire body. Jagged blue arcs grew and grew, creating an electric aura. When it became three times as big as the dragon, it unleashed the high voltage ball at the split mountain. It collided with the rocky mass and instantly shattered. The Surface formation crumbled on itself and the bright purple energy leak definitively ceased.

The outrider dragon was still circling as if nothing happened, until the sparkles dragon joined it and flew alongside. The outrider dragon broke its daze and looked at the powerful dragon next to it. They both looked at the collapsed mountain. The outrider dragon slowly came to a stop, slumped over, and heavily exhaled. The sparkles dragon gave it gentle pat on the back with its tail.

The Secret of Invention

While the Vale became more engulfed in suffocating Surface energy, a vanguard dragon monitored the youth trying their best to stave off destruction. The dragon saw an airship detach from the dock and flail wildly in the turbulent wind. The vanguard dragon saw a young witch clinging to the mast and flew straight to her aid.

The dragon rose underneath the airship and clamped it between its massive wings. It escorted the ship back to the dock and locked it in place. The witch profusely thanked the dragon and ran off it to find a portal to safety. The vanguard dragon raised a wing to acknowledge the thanks and saw gold gleaming bright on the tips. The dragon looked back at the path it took and saw a hole punched through a giant energy cloud. The vanguard dragon smirked and took off, diving through as many clouds as possible with its wings spread out.

The dragon could see the gold glow emanating from its entire body. It looked around and realized it had flown so low the Surface was in sight. The vanguard dragon could see Silverfalls Gorge with such clarity that something was visibly splashing around a lake.

The vanguard dragon sped toward the mysterious being in distress and saw a riptide dragon porpoising up a mountain, only to fail and slide back down into the lake. The vanguard dragon saw a small pond nestled high in the mountain that was spewing energy out from the water. The riptide dragon yelped at the hovering vanguard dragon and nodded its head toward the pond.

The vanguard dragon flapped over to the mountain and stood firmly between the lake and the pond. The riptide dragon dipped under water and swam away. The vanguard dragon watched intently as its new partner turned around and torpedoed as fast as it could toward the edge of the lake. It leaped out of the water and sailed through the air straight toward the vanguard dragon. The gilded creature compressed its wings on its back and when the riptide dragon came flying down on it, the vanguard dragon's wings sprung up, catapulting its swimming companion back into the air. The riptide dragon dove seamlessly into the pond, unleashed a high pitch frequency, and sealed the energy leak under water.

The riptide dragon emerged and laughed. The vanguard dragon saw the energy geyser sputter to a stop and joined in the laughter. Silverfalls Gorge echoed with their uproarious satisfaction.

The Secret of Stealth

A piece of rock whizzed through the sky and slammed into another. BANG! Another collided, then another; each one with a structure on top. One building's sign swung violently from the commotion and it read, “Bizarre Bazaar”. A darcowl dragon peeked out from behind the building and looked around with wide eyes.

Ellie walked by and the darcowl dragon darted back behind the building. It waited for her to pass then slinked out to observe more of this new environment.

SQUISH. The darcowl dragon lifted its foreleg and saw smoky, purple fog clinging to it like goo. It tried to shake it off but instead it spread back to its tail and up to its head. Instantly, the dragon changed forms and blended in with a nearby shrubbery.

Ellie walked by again and the dragon stood as still as possible. Ellie kept walking without pause. The darcowl dragon looked at itself and saw more purple fog seeping up and over the edge of the island. It ran to the edge, clung to the ground, and peered off into the distance. It couldn't see anything except a sea of purple fog. It crept down onto the spire, close to the clouds, and poked its head through.

Four distinct and massive plumes of purple fog billowed up from the Surface. Lightning strikes blasted throughout the sky. The darcowl dragon's eyes glazed over and its mouth fell agape.

The Secret of Agility

THWIP. THWAP. SWISH. SWASH. A dash dragon, on two strong legs, sped through a thick forest breaking branches and mangling bushes. It emerged close to the edge of an island and seamlessly jumped through the air to the next island. It careened toward the Bizarre Bazaar and stopped dead in its tracks.

It sniffed wildly around the perimeter of the market like a blood hound on a trail. It poked its head through the front doors. From inside, a voice screamed, “Ahhhh!” The dash dragon pulled itself out and shook its head as if trying to rid the noise from its ears.

It continued sniffing at the foundation and located a particularly strong scent. It dug frantically into the ground and kept digging until only its tail was sticking out. Snorts and sniffs echoed up from the hole, then silence set in. A young wizard emerged from the Bizarre Bazaar and looked down through the hole… it went right through the island.

Floating through the sky, the dash dragon was encased in spellform energy with only its head poking free. The cloud carried it into the dark unknown, so the dragon pushed its legs through the energy and began pedaling midair. It managed to change the trajectory of the energy cloud and touched down safely on a desert land known to some historians and lorebrarians as Briar Flats.

The dash dragon took its first step on this strange land and noticed its legs had bright green and sleek black feathers. It instinctually took off at top speed and was at least twice as fast as its former self. It ran until it hit water, turned back, and ran another direction. It ran three more laps until it realized there was no dragon, witch, or wizard in sight.

It looked around and simply sat down with its head hung low…

The Secret of Telepathy

Ellie stood on the island she and Kai summoned and watched the creeping energy consume the perimeter. She gripped her wand tight and closed her eyes. Light pink tendrils appeared around her wand, then her entire body. Ellie was so focused she didn't see the curious psyche dragon floating down above her to catch a closer look. Suddenly, the pink tendrils shot out in all directions and decimated the creeping energy. It also consumed the psyche dragon above her head.

The dragon had instantly transformed into a mesmerizing array of green and white scales with geometric pink flare. It scanned the island intently and spotted a rambunctious armament dragon ignoring a darcowl dragon. The psyche dragon's stare intensified and quickly thereafter, the armament dragon walked off the island's edge. As it fell through the sky, panic took hold of the flightless being… until the psyche dragon flew alongside it.

While they both descended at an incredible rate, they saw the Surface's Glimmerverse come into focus. It was a vast, shimmering expanse filled with crystalline formations, rainbows, glittery meadows, and even more energy leaks. The psyche dragon locked eyes with the armament dragon and they leaned left simultaneously. The non-flying friend curled up into a ball and targeted a crystal ramp below it. The armament dragon hit the ramp and rolled speedily onto solid ground. The psyche dragon caught up with it. As soon as the armament dragon came out of its tucked position, it ran at full speed toward a giant crystal with energy spewing out from its base. CRASH! The behemoth creature demolished it and sealed the leak. It kept pace, trampled a field of toadstools, and ran toward another crystal. The psyche dragon floated to several more leaks and the armament dragon sealed each one in succession with deliberate destruction.

The two of them continued until no leak was left in the Glimmerverse. There were few crystals that survived the demolition derby, but order was restored… or at least it appeared so.

The Secret of Physics

While the skies darkened and sporadic energy formed clouds, a quantum dragon lay asleep on a chunk of land floating up toward the Vale. The purple fog around this dragon floated closer and closer, converging on the slumbering creature. The fog clung to the land, then rolled along the sod. The quantum dragon slowly awoke and saw something fuzzy crawling on its tail. As soon as the dragon leapt up and shook incessantly, it glimpsed the open chaotic skies while floating on a tiny island… and fainted.

The perturbed dragon awoke yet again, but this time there was no chunk of land under it. It was levitating without any support. The dragon spun in all directions looking for solid ground. It looked up and saw a huge island; it scrambled in the air to stop levitating. After managing to avoid a collision, the quantum dragon saw a gray figure lean over the edge of the island. It smoothly moved closer to the edge, then suddenly fell. It toppled toward the quantum dragon and an invisible shot of energy reflexively emanated from the creature.

The dragon furrowed its brow and saw the object coming back down. The quantum dragon let out another wave of unseen force and followed the figure in flight. With one last blast, it landed the statue safely to the ground. Staring back at the dragon, was the face of Nogard; he was petrified… encased in stone.

The quantum dragon wiped a smattering of purple energy off Nogard's face and took off with a loud screech toward the Surface…

The Secret of Fluidity

A baby riptide dragon swam in a lake, splashing about and chuckling to itself. The ground shook and a loud crack echoed. The baby dragon stopped and watched the water. It rippled and then another load CRACK startled the creature. The ground broke apart at the edge of the lake and water poured over the edge like a waterfall into nothingness.

The baby riptide dragon saw an outrider dragon dive down into the deep dark sky, followed shortly by a quantum dragon. The baby buoyed up and down giggling again and swam to the waterfall. Kai caught sight of the baby dragon about to swim off into the sky and he cast a grasping spell.

The spell couldn't hold it back and the dragon slipped off. As it fell, the falling water around it slowly turned purple. The grasping spell interacted with the now liquid energy and the baby riptide dragon was surrounded by a bright aura.

Giant teeth emerged and the aura shattered. A fully-grown riptide dragon with a strong jaw and ominous scales took form and roared with a deep belly laugh. It could now see the Surface and a gorge filled with water.

SPLISH! The dragon had a seamless entry and popped back up. It looked around Silverfalls Gorge, a wide expanse of fresh snow, dense forests, and crystal-clear waterways. Nearby, bubbles percolated, and smoky energy released with each pop. The riptide dragon dove down, looking for the source.

The Secret of Inspiration

While the other eight spellform dragons were witnessing the birth of a fury dragon on the Surface, the lone darcowl dragon in the Vale was combating increasingly hostile energy alongside Kai and Ellie. More and more kids started casting spells to push back the purple fog. Even the dragons without enhancements rose to the occasion and used their magic breath to bolster the unified defense.

Just then, the fury dragon rose high above the Vale and proudly floated with a scowling observance of the chaos. It smirked. The Surface energy walloped the darcowl dragon and sent it into a stupor. Ellie ran to check on it as Kai fired suppressing spells to keep her safe from the onslaught. The fury dragon's smirk faded when all it could see was children and dragons fighting an endless battle. Another wave of energy hit the darcowl dragon and it tumbled off the island's edge. The fury dragon rocketed straight down toward the helpless being. The darcowl dragon vanished below an energy cloud and the fury dragon followed it blindly.

High above the Surface, the group of spellform dragons flew up while the non-flyers hitched a ride. They were looking for the furious one, when two dragons burst through a cloud above them and collided with the group. A bright light exploded from the epicenter of the collision.

As the light faded, a new dragon appeared. Its bright blue wings and staggering aura magically held the stunned dragons in mid-air. Much like the fury dragon was created from raw rebellion, the bastion dragon was created from pure hope. The bastion dragon flew up to the safety of the Vale and gently descended with the dazed dragons still in tow. As they landed, the immaculate force emanating from the bastion dragon quelled all of the Surface energy. The purple fog faded, and a clear blue sky framed the rising sun for dawn to grace the Vale once again.

The petrified House Witches and Wizards broke free from the spell and witnessed other adult magicfolk appearing from thin air. Nogard looked around and saw a boy jumping for joy, “Young one. What happened here?”

The young boy said, “My name's Donlo, Mr. Nogard sir. The dragons did it! They saved the Vale!”

Nogard looked over and saw the newly pink-maned fury dragon stand up in the middle of the spellform dragons. The group closed in on the fury dragon and huddled together, resting their heads and wings on each other. The bastion dragon enveloped them all with its brilliant wings. Kai and Ellie watched and smiled as the warmth of sunlight spread.

During the calamitous incidents known as the Secrets of Spellform, there was a being that may have been the cause of it all. Deep in the Surface, a bundle of condensed energy became somewhat autonomous. Its sole purpose was to escape, but the pent-up energy could not break through to the open air above. It was deflected every time it came close to piercing through. After every attempt, the sentient energy mass dissipated and reappeared in another underground region of the Surface.

This unfortunate soul repeated the same cycle over and over, creating geysers of energy leaks across the Surface, until a massive amount of energy pooled around it. The entity pulsed and grew. It aimed upward once again and propelled through the earthy quagmire.

On the flat, desolate ground of the Briar Flats, a lone dash dragon sat sulking. The ground cracked. The dragon tilted its head. The crack grew slowly then spread wildly. The dash dragon perked up and ran in circles, trying to escape the fierce fissure.

A vanguard dragon flew in and landed with a riptide dragon on its back. An outrider and sparkles dragon sped in and hovered. A quantum and psyche dragon levitated in alongside an armament dragon floating in a translucent force field bubble. They all surrounded the seismic event preparing to seal the largest energy leak on the Surface…

Before they could act, the subterranean energy burst through the ground. It appeared to survey the spellform dragons around it and began to change. The energy took the shape of a dragon with four legs, sharp talons, and dismal fur. It was indeed a dragon spawned from a furious inception. The psyche dragon approached it in the air and signaled with pink flares. The fury dragon snorted, turned away, and flew toward the Vale.

A snoring sailback dragon slept belly up on the sand of a paradise habitat. Small waves crept in and splashed its head. Its eyes slowly opened and blinked to get the water out. The sailback dragon sluggishly rolled over and stood up, stretching its back and tail as far as it could. A heavy groan escaped its mouth.

As the sound of waves grew louder, the dragon's jaw dropped…

THE NIGHT BEFORE

The sailback dragon was decked out in its glowing style and performed dazzling acrobatics in the middle of a sea of tiki torches. A magicfolk audience chanted, “Sailback! Sailback!” The dragon caught sight of a pile of blushrooms, danced over to it, and dove in headfirst. It ate the lot and emerged with a face splattered in blue.

The crowd cheered. A nearby armament dragon observed the spectacle and chuckled. The sailback dragon ran around to make sure everyone could see its blue face before it jumped into the water.

While the exuberant dragon was in midair, someone shouted, “You can't swim!” Panic hit the sailback dragon's face before it belly-flopped in deep water…

PRESENT DAY

The sailback dragon stared at the water and slowly backed up. It stepped in a shallow puddle and yelped. The dragon scampered away and didn't look back.

As it walked through the Vale yawning, a monte dragon stumbled upon a giant mess of chopped, diced, and smashed beanstalks. It bent down to take a taste, mostly to determine if it was still good to eat. It smacked its beak with appeasement and went in for another bite…

THE NIGHT BEFORE

The monte dragon flew high above a crowd of Valers and dragons, diving and swooping between the tall beanstalks of a large treat farm crop. The Valers held buckets over their heads and the dragons watched intently. The monte dragon snapped and chomped at the beanstalks. Chunks flew in the air as sugary juice rained down into the buckets. The magicfolk emptied the buckets in a giant trough for the spectating dragons. A darcowl and an outrider dragon sidled in and lapped up some fresh beanstalk juice. They smiled at each other with dripping jowls.

The monte dragon kept flying and slicing beanstalks until the trough was overflowing. The witches and wizards below tried to signal for it to stop, but the dragon saw what looked like a rowdy good time. Soon, everyone was knee deep in beanstalk chunks.

PRESENT DAY

The monte dragon took a second look at the mess and may have blushed… it would be hard to tell. It pushed all the beanstalk pieces together with its wings and assembled a pile. It picked up a large leaf in its beak and placed it neatly on top. As it walked away, it stopped and turned back for one last bite for the road.

High atop a skytree, a tired toco dragon rolled over on a leaf and almost fell to the ground. It planted a wing on the edge and pushed itself back, but for some reason, there was a busted bongo drum encircling its fruit-colored feathers. It tilted its head at the mysterious musical instrument that looked more like a bracelet…

THE NIGHT BEFORE

The toco dragon was taking a calm evening flight when an intriguing and rhythmic beat echoed up from the ground. A circle of magicfolk were pounding drums with joy!

The dragon landed right in the middle and looked at each drummer with a smirk. The music overwhelmed the dragon in such a way, its only avenue to distribute the positive energy was to run in circles, waving its wings wildly. The Valers laughed and kept the beat going. One wizard soloed on some bongo drums and it caught the dragon's attention. The wizard stepped aside to give the toco dragon a chance… if it would even recognize what the Valer was offering.

The toco dragon raised its wings and beat the bongos with fervor. The circle of players encouraged it and cheered. Even a dash and psyche dragon started nodding their heads. The toco dragon got so animated, it punched right through the drum with its wing. The dragon might have apologized if it could, but it immediately flew away with the drum trailing its flapping wings.

PRESENT DAY

The toco dragon still gazing at the drum, shook its wing violently to rid itself of the embarrassment. Unfortunately, it heard some Valers below talking just as the drum flew off. The dragon tried to catch it, but it crashed to the ground and caused the witches to look up. The toco dragon scrambled to hide amongst the leaves and sheepishly peeked out.

As the sun rose, a vibe dragon sauntered across the vacant Dragon Dance Floor. It spotted a sizeable scorch mark on the edge and tapped its foot on top, presumably to see if it was dangerous…

THE NIGHT BEFORE

The vibe dragon walked near the dance floor and could hear infectious beats. There were too many witches and wizards around to get a good look, so it climbed to the top of a canopy. From there, it could see two dragons stamping around to the rhythm. As the sun set, the dancers receded into darkness… until the vibe dragon's pulsing style activated.

The dance floor exploded with an intricate pattern, basking the dancers in a soft orange glow. The dancing dragons gleefully roared. The vibe dragon's head started nodding to the beat as it directed the light show with its entire body.

High above, a sparkles dragon noticed the illuminated display and landed right next to the vibe dragon. The newcomer started bobbing its head in unison with the vibe dragon. Lightning spread across the sky and yellow flashed down on the dancers. The lightning increased, creating a vibrant and choreographed light show that amplified the scene with electrified hype.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning touched down on the edge of the dance floor. The lights stopped and the dragons froze. The vibe dragon looked at its lighting partner and shook its head. The vibe dragon started its style up again and the party continued.

PRESENT DAY

The vibe dragon glazed over the scorch with intense breath magic then wiped it clean with its tail. With the floor being properly mended, it looked like nothing ever happened.

A bedraggled elegant dragon slinked up to a pond and bent down to take a sip. It caught a glimpse of its disheveled reflection and stumbled back. The shocked dragon leaned in again to confirm its appearance in the water…

THE NIGHT BEFORE

A crowd of magicfolk were talking about the Secrets of Spellform while several dragons milled about a flower-covered patio. The witches and wizards stopped all conversation and the dragons stood perfectly still. Every head turned in the same direction to see an elegant dragon gracefully gliding down a grassy knoll.

The chic presence made its way down to the patio, gently making a trail on the flowered floor. A riptide dragon poked its head out of a nearby lake and stared blankly at the flowing peace of the elegant dragon. The now giddy riptide dragon dove down and popped up high in the air. It flipped over and over, let out a whistle, then straightened for a perfect dive.

A gigantic splash of muddy lake water landed on the elegant dragon. Muck and flowers were pasted all over its body and face. An audible gasp rippled through the crowd. The dripping elegant dragon looked up at the blushing riptide dragon. With one swift flick of its head, the elegant dragon displayed its style. The frills around its neck and tail flung the muddy mess in all directions into the crowd.

Music kicked on and the elegant dragon started dancing. Everyone joined in.

PRESENT DAY

The elegant dragon, still looking at itself, snickered and dunked its whole head in the water. The mud and flowers washed away, and the dragon snapped its head back to dry off. A spitting sound was heard seconds later. The dragon turned around to see Kaleni wiping water off his face.

A baby ruckus dragon woke up in a meadow and stumbled to its feet. As it lost its balance, it smacked up against an invisible barrier. The dragon shook its head and attempted to walk. It banged right into an apparent obstacle yet again…

THE NIGHT BEFORE

The rambunctious ruckus dragon bounced around admiring a gathering of spellform dragons. It hopped to each one, surveyed their impressive stature, and flicked its tongue out. It arrived face to face with a quantum dragon and grinned ear to ear. The ruckus dragon pogoed and incessantly bugled its buzzing kazoo of a tongue. This went on far too long as evidenced by the dreary look on the quantum dragon's face. Soon, every dragon in the vicinity was staring at the obnoxious display.

The quantum dragon waved its wing in front of the ruckus dragon and the noise stopped instantly. When it jumped, the precocious dragon bopped its head on an invisible force field. It tried to escape the incomprehensible enclosure but could not. The quantum dragon relaxed and sighed, but the ruckus dragon was clearly not amused anymore and voiced its dissatisfaction even though no dragon could hear it.

PRESENT DAY

The quantum dragon woke up to see its bubble shield still intact. It gritted its teeth and winked. The invisible field dissipated, and the ruckus baby was free. It looked around and spotted the guilty spellform dragon. The enraged baby trumpeted a furious buzz from its unfurling forked tongue. It sounded very different than the previous night.

A razzle dragon sat on the edge of an icy pond, soaking its long legs. It stretched both out of the ice bath, winced, and set them back in…

THE NIGHT BEFORE

The razzle dragon, limber and spry, ran through the Vale gathering attention with mouth-clicks, chirps, and exuberant wing flapping. A nearby vanguard dragon snickered at the peculiar display.

On the outskirts of the Vale, A lumberjack of a wizard had cast an auto-axe spell and watched it methodically chop a tall oak. The razzle dragon sped by and caught the working wizard's eye. He walked away from the spell with only inches left intact on the trunk. The swaying tree released a loud CRACK and alarmed the amused vanguard dragon. It came running around the corner just in time to divert the falling tree with its strong wings. THUD! The tree struck the ground a few feet from the Hibernation Cave.

On a thick wooded trail, an ignite dragon led a pack of baby dragons on a hike to wild dragon treats. The ignite dragon blasted branches and thorns out of their path with precision breath magic. The razzle dragon flew overhead, cawing and gesturing to anyone below it to follow. The ignite dragon got distracted and followed the hoopla. The baby ignite dragons stopped walking when they were faced with an impenetrable thicket. The dutiful vanguard dragon appeared shortly thereafter and landed near the hatchlings. It cleared a path for them but in turn became encased in thorns and prickly branches.

In the center of town, a witch was as busy as a busby dragon painting her house when the razzle dragon skipped by squawking and waving. The witch thought something important must be happening for this fabulous fanfare, so she followed the rabble-rousing razzle dragon too. Unfortunately, the velocity of the witch's levitating paint globs increased as soon as she left. It appeared as if her neighbor might be the recipient of an unwanted home makeover, until the resourceful vanguard dragon flew in front of the rogue paint and flapped its enormous wings. Of course, the paint went straight up in the air and rained down on the poor, selfless soul trying to help avert disaster.

When the winded, scathed, and painted spellform dragon caught up with the razzle dragon, it loudly and proudly waltzed into the Colosseum. The vanguard dragon stopped, shook its head, and turned around.

PRESENT DAY

The razzle dragon stepped out of the ice bath and calmly stood on one leg to dry off. It tucked its head under its wing and snoozed away.

In the middle of an empty Colosseum, a dazzle dragon slept atop a bed of flowers and confetti. It grunted and kicked its feet as if it were immersed in an intense dream…

THE NIGHT BEFORE

Outside the Colosseum, Zola gave a pep talk to the dazzle dragon as it ineffectively hid behind a tree. “Just give ‘em an act with lots of flash”, she said. Just then, a razzle dragon hurriedly escorted an elder earth dragon out of a heated contest. The dazzle dragon's eyes darted from the massive arena to Zola.

Zola paused, then snapped her fingers. Shiny black bangles, spikes, and shoulder pads appeared on the dragon. Zola rubbed her chin while observing the outfit then twitched her nose. A sleek pair of sunglasses coalesced on the dragon's head.

The dazzle dragon walked out from behind the tree and admired its new look. It let out a squeaky roar and jumped back behind the tree. Zola looked at the setting sun and twirled her quill. She waved her writing utensil at the ever-shy dragon and cast a magic mic spell. A conjured golden microphone levitated in front of the dragon's mouth. It released a curious groan and it was instantly translated into a melodic and lyrical vocalization that any witch or wizard could understand.

The dazzle dragon hopped back out from hiding and held its head high. It nodded at Zola, then marched into the Colosseum. The razzle dragon flew around the crowd and swooped down to announce the arrival of the headlining dazzle dragon. It took center stage and bellowed a verse. Zola flicked her quill and a beat-heavy track backed the vocals.

The crowd was stunned… too stunned to properly react. Then, a bastion dragon flew in, activated its conjured spellform, and danced in the sky. The crowd snapped out of its stupor and cheered louder than the Colosseum could contain.

PRESENT DAY

The dazzle dragon awoke suddenly and immediately moon-walked across the Colosseum floor. It looked around and saw not a single Valer nor dragon was there. It promptly went back to sleep with its sunglasses by its side.

The Hunt Begins

As old wizard Whitbee put the finishing touches on the Airship of Ghouls late at night, a dark mass materialized in a blue portal behind him. This was the same blue portal he had made every year as part of his themed décor, but it was never functional.

The mass propelled from the portal, creating a rush of wind that blew Whitbee's hat off. He bent down to pick it up and saw the mysterious entity rush into a forest before losing sight of it. He nervously twisted his hat.

Whitbee decided to research this phenomenon in the Dragonarium and while browsing bookshelves from floor to ceiling, he stopped dead in his tracks as one tome pulsed. He retrieved it with a levitation spell and quickly thumbed through the pages. He arrived at a depiction of a shadowy figure dubbed the Eldritch Dragon. Upon reading more, he found that after escaping its home realm, only the Shrouded Cavalry could usher it back to its proper plane of existence. A dragon's shadow spread across the wall behind Whitbee, unbeknownst to him as he pondered the implications of the text.

Just outside the Dragonarium, Gardenia, Nogard, Kaleni, and Lumi were searching for a lost baby lycan dragon. Everyone had their wands set with torch light. As soon as they discovered the wandering baby, it began to howl. “Well, that's one heck of a howl, little one,” Nogard declared.

Lumi looked up at the full moon and said, “It must be a natural reaction.”

Gardenia chimed in, “It's so cute! It sounds like it's saying ‘looooo.'”

“Like, let's name it Moony-Loo, then,” Kaleni announced. Before anyone could agree, the eldritch dragon flew past them with a gusty force. “Yikes!” yelped Kaleni.

The gang hid behind a tree, including Moony-Loo. They saw Whitbee follow in the creepy dragon's wake with a book tucked under his arm. Nogard deduced, “I've got a feeling, Whitbee might be planning something a bit too scary for some of the Valefolk this year.”

The Hunt has Hope

Nogard, Lumi, Gardenia, Kaleni, and Moony-Loo followed Whitbee back to the blue portal near the Airship of Ghouls. “You know, I've been thinking. We need a name,” Lumi proposed.

“A name for what?” Kaleni blurted.

Lumi continued her thought, “For this. What we're doing right now. It's quite the mystery we're chasing.”

“How about… Magical Mystery Team?” Nogard suggested.

“Loooooo!” the baby lycan dragon howled.

Gardenia piped up, “Sounds like a winner!” Just then, a deafening whirlwind was unleashed. The team stumbled behind a large rock and peeked around it. Whitbee was holding a book and recited an incantation.

The only word they could hear was, “… charlatan!” As soon as it was uttered, a broad winged dragon shot out of the portal. It looped around and hovered in front of Whitbee. The whirlwind died down.

“Find the Eldritch,” Whitbee commanded. The charlatan dragon took off in a streak of blue and gold. It majestically searched the land from high above. Moony-Loo ran after it.

Kaleni followed and cried, “Wait up, Moony!”

In a bustling neighborhood, the charlatan dragon circled while witches and wizards decorated their homes with jack-o-lanterns and cauldrons. Kaleni and Moony arrived just when everyone collectively witnessed the charlatan dragon. They oohed and aahed at the aerial display.

Moony-Loo caught sight of the eldritch dragon on the outskirts of the neighborhood and chased it. The charlatan dragon saw the same thing Moony did and dove straight down into the midst of gawking magicfolk. It weaved in and out of homes, dodged innocent bystanders, and went straight after its target.

Kaleni busted through a bush just in time to see the charlatan dragon sweep over the Eldritch with its wing. Moony watched intently as blue, gold, and white took root on the eldritch dragon's tail and hind legs.

“L-L-Let's get outta here!” Kaleni stammered to Moony-Loo.

The Hunt is Plagued

Kaleni came running back to the Magical Mystery Team after witnessing the charlatan dragon chase down the Eldritch. “Guys, this is getting serious—,” but before he could finish his sentiment, they all witnessed a sharp, black beak poke through the blue portal. A scourge dragon with yellow eyes and sallow fur awkwardly flew into the Vale and touched down in front of Whitbee. The wizard pointed to the charlatan dragon's path. The scourge dragon twitched and craned its head sideways. With a muted guttural shriek, it hobbled away on hoof.

Nogard cut the tension, “I think we should follow this one together.” The team exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.

“No way!” Kaleni blurted. “After what I saw, I'm staying right here.” Moony-Loo nuzzled up against the frightened wizard and Kaleni gave him a pat on the head. Nogard conceded but instructed Kaleni to send up a signal flare spell at the first sign of trouble.

As the team followed the scourge dragon, they saw treat farm crops wilt and dry out almost instantly. Gardenia gasped so loudly that the scourge dragon snapped around to look behind it. Lumi cast a camouflage spell around the crew just in time. The scourge dragon continued. Gardenia, on the other hand, huffed and started slinging regrowth spells at the wake of withered crops.

Alone in a glade, the eldritch dragon stared at its tail and hind legs covered in a charlatan shroud. It looked up to see the trees all around it shrivel and dry. The grass turned brown and quickly encircled the eldritch dragon. As the unknown magic was inches away from the dragon, it flew up and out of harm's way.

Just outside the forest, Lumi pointed up at the eldritch dragon flying out of the spreading danger. The scourge dragon rose up and flew over the escapee. Their wings touched and the eldritch dragon saw a grayness spread. Its wings wilted and resembled those of the scourge dragon.

Just then, a bright, red flare shot high in the sky.

The Hunt is Imperiled

The team of wizards raced back to the portal where they left Kaleni, following the glow of the flare in the sky.

They found their companion ducking behind a bush and joined him in hiding. Gazing up, they saw that the light in the sky was no flare, but a fearsome-looking dragon, wreathed in metal and flames. It was then joined by a dark shape circling in the air - it appeared that the eldritch dragon had followed them back.

As they whirled together in the dark sky, the eldritch dragon suddenly burst alight and took on a flame-filled form, causing the shadows in the square to dance and flicker wildly. The eldritch dragon drew its now burning wings together and, with a blinding flash, rocketed away.

Just then, Whitbee emerged from the darkness and pointed his wand at the fire-lit trail left by the eldritch dragon. The armored, fiery dragon seemed to heed the order and darted away across the landscape, a cantering, conflagratious countenance. Whitbee took off after it, and the other wizards followed, sticking to the shadows.

The Hunt is Ending

As the gang watched Whitbee teleport to follow the flaming streak left by the ignited eldritch dragon, the portal behind them began to change color to a silver-flecked sickly green. A pale, decaying dragon with enormous scythe-like horns emerged from it and sensing its brethren and the escaped dragon they sought, it darted into the dark sky, to head off its target and direct it back to the portal.

The macabre dragon rounded an enormous colosseum, banking North and cut off its prey. Seeing the black and red streak of the eldritch dragon turn sharply in its direction, it rocketed past and as it did so, the eldritch dragon's colors changed yet again, now resembling the pale and sickly green of the macabre dragon.

At the Bizarre Bazaar, Nogard surmised that they should start to clean up the mess that had been created in order to help Whitbee. Using their wands to repair and clean, Kaleni conjured up some snacks so that no one would go hungry.

Whitbee reappeared just in time to see the eldritch dragon land in the clearing in front of the portal as the other dragons followed suit. Sensing that the ordeal would soon be over, Whitbee sighed in relief, until Lumi, visibly exasperated by now, exclaimed, “you accidentally summoned that dragon didn't you!? Then you summoned the four apocalyptic hunters to assist you right”? Sheepishly, Whitbee replied, “yes, I did, but I wouldn't have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling wizards, and for that I thank you”.

The shrouds that covered the eldritch dragon began to phase in and out of view blinking faster and faster until they disappeared entirely leaving a very awkward eldritch dragon standing there. “You know, this poor dragon didn't really do any harm to the Vale, and could stay if it likes”, said Gardenia. “It can leave any time it wants as can these four hunters!” In an attempt to lighten the mood, Kaleni declared, “I'd make an apocalypse pun right now, but armageddon the feeling it wouldn't go over well”. Kaleni laughed, the gang groaned, and Moony-Loo let forth a “Moony-loony LOOOOOOOO”!

THAT NIGHT

The tebori dragon is fond of many things, but it especially likes being on the beach during a hot sunny day. So, when the wizard that discovered it, Donlo, invited it to the party, tebori didn't even hesitate for a second. Tebori was fairly new to the Vale and upon arrival it got many double takes, but only because everyone was mesmerised by the beautiful patterns on its body. Some wizards speculate these are powerful spells written in tebori's native language, others claim it's a map to a different Vale. No one dared to ask what they were though. As the night progressed, everyone was enjoying themselves, but tebori was keeping its distance, as it was feeling a bit down because of all the looks it got at the start. That was until the chromacorn dragon arrived and went straight to it to say ""Hi"". Both friends ended up catching up for lost time and having fun all evening at the beach. No one was looking at their direction anymore, which is a pity because they looked so perfect standing there together.

THAT NIGHT

The delicia dragon lived very close to the beach party, but still came in late because it spent a lot of time making itself prettier and preparing to look its best. When it arrived, an epic dance off was happening, and it decided to sign up. Delicia dragons are known for their beauty inside and out, with valuable personality traits, such as kindness, compassion, optimism, sympathy and confidence. When the time came, the delicia dragon was called on the stage and faced its opponent. Loud music started playing, the crowd was cheering, and some very interesting dancing was happening. The delicia dragon was on fire, dancing like crazy and the more intricate moves it did, more eyes were glued to it. It was having the best performance of its life. But the reason why so many were looking at it was because it was just flailing its wings and tail around and twirling all over the place. It still won, though.

THE OTHER NIGHT

The alffa dragon was sitting on a log bench in front of the fire and was listening to the stories of its friends. Its age is unknown, but wizards guess it's been around for quite some time. Its interesting name doesn't stand for leadership, but for wisdom and timelessness. Many would look up to it and ask for advice on different occasions, because this dragon is said to be all-seeing. There isn't a single Valer, witch or wizard it doesn't know or hasn't heard of. For that reason everyone loved it and invited it to multiple different gatherings. And that night was no exception. Alffa met with its friends oaris, exandrew, hanno, grove, delicia and tebori on the beach and they ended up chatting all evening. They met up on the same beach last year's party was, so they can all talk fondly about their sweet Memories of Paradise.

The alffa dragon didn't speak much at first, but was patiently listening to its friends' stories. One by one, all of them shared their most amazing memory of the night of the party, and when everyone turned to alffa dragon to ask for its best memory, it just let out a small laugh. As it was all-seeing and witnessed everything that happened that night, it started explaining that not everything happened as they remembered it. First turning to oaris dragon, alffa explained that the big party was already being planned and it never approached razzle and dazzle for a talk. Then, turning to exandrew dragon - the mythic dragons turned its direction because of the loud thud that followed one of his attempts to fly. Hanno's hair prevented it from seeing how good frond's handstand was. Grove's friends were a little bit annoyed with how slow it was moving. Delicia's dance was not as good as it remembered it. And tebori - everyone was looking at it, not because it was different, but because they were in awe of the beautiful patterns. Still, everyone had a great time that night and even the other night, and some new memories of paradise were created.

The Haunted Harvest begins!

Knowing what shenanigans his questionable decor might unleash when the Harvest begins, Whitbee and the other Wizards barricaded the blue portal he had made. They took shifts monitoring it to make sure no more horrific dragons come pouring out into the Vale. One day, as Whitbee stood watch, a knocking on the barricade was heard...from the inside of the portal. Unsure if it was real or just his imagination, Whitbee knocked on it himself, hoping nothing would reply. Instead of the silence he was hoping for, what he got in response was much worse, the portal began sparkling and the planks started violently shaking as something was trying to brute force its way through to his side. He quickly sounded the alarm and all the other Wizards rushed in, they turned over whatever furniture they could and took cover behind it, wands aimed at the portal ready for whatever it is that comes out. After a few minutes, the planks could no longer hold the beast and it made its way through. Much to their relief, it wasn't the eldritch horror or doom bringer they were expecting. Instead, it was this cute, bulbous, innocent looking bundle of ectoplasm. Sure, some of its inner workings should not be visible to the naked eye but when it stuck its tongue out like a puppy, they decided to let it stay. Kwall, they named it, after the sound Lumi made when she first saw it. Had this whole ordeal happened at night, however, this would have been an entirely different story.

The Haunted Harvest trick or eating!

After kwall's spooktacular entrance through Whitbee's portal, the Wizards decided not to repair the barricade on the portal, but still keep a watchful eye on it. This time the portal began sparkling at dawn and the Wizard who was there all but expected another cutesy dragon to pop out. Instead, what came out, might as well have come out of somebody's darkest nightmare. A ferocious, hunched over beast that looked as if it had just fought death itself..and won. The dragon, with an eerie glow in its eyes, started thrashing around, knocking over barricades and furniture with intense rage and fervor. Gardenia was alone on watch and did her best to stay out of harm's way until backup arrived. She threw a few treats its way as distraction but the dragon paid no attention to them. It hadn't come looking for treats, and this was no mere trick. When the others arrived, the sun had just risen and they were baffled as to why Gardenia would sound the alarm and hide in fear over such a cute and fuzzy dragon, even its horns look like candy canes. When she came out of hiding she could not believe her eyes, the horrific beast that was rampaging moments ago was now nomming on the treats she threw at it earlier. In a panic she quickly described how just moments ago it looked entirely different and was ramming and smashing everything trying to catch her. They scoffed and joked about her having to catch some sleep instead.

The Haunted Harvest really takes off!

After the last portal breach, the Wizards decided to still keep it open but to install barricades around the perimeter of the portal. That way they would be able to see what comes in and decide on whether or not to let it stay. The portal started sparkling again and everyone was there this day, aiming their wands at the portal and waiting in bated breath to see what would make its way through. The dragon that came in was white and fluffy, almost like it was riding in on a cloud or pillow of feathers. It had a quick look around and simply flew over the barricade the Wizards had prepared for its arrival and escaped. All that hard work and anticipation just to have it fly over them. The other two dragons that had arrived either made no attempt to fly away or simply couldn't, no one saw this coming. Gardenia had had enough of Whitbee's portal bafoonery, threw her wand at him and stormed out. Later that day she found where the new arrival went after making its escape, straight to the other two of course. They were all playing and jumping together cheerfully, this put a smile on Gardenia's face. In a sigh of relief she thought maybe it wouldn't be so bad having them around for Harvest... as long as the sun never goes down again. Who knows what the new dragon has hidden in store for them for when night falls, hence the name - iden.
