The DragonVale Soundtrack Collection was made by and released for streaming and download by Aubrey Hodges on April 16, 2025 on bandcamp.com.
In 2012 in a post on his web site, Aubrey Hodges wrote that he wanted to create a style that would be pleasant to hear and emotionally lift the player into the right mood for the game. Besides that, Aubrey Hodges chose a handful of instruments to comprise the score such as the Celtic harp, flute, recorder, oboe, clarinet, tambourine, triangle and nylon (classical) guitar. Aubrey Hodges created the soundtrack to give life to the game and to cater a connection to the players and their park, by keeping the mood cheery but not patronizing the audience with all major key bliss. The guiding principles during composition for Aubrey Hodges were simple, elegant and bright.[1]
Aubrey Hodges previously made eight tracks for the DragonVale Soundtrack which are included in the DragonVale Soundtrack Collection.
Aubrey Hodges worked with Backflip Studios on multiple games prior to becoming their Director of Audio from May 2012 until May 2017; including DragonVale, DragonVale World, and DragonVale Wings. [2] [3]
More information about Aubrey Hodges can be found on his web site including more about his career, his career credits, and which instruments he plays.

Release Announcements[]
On April 16, 2025, Aubrey Hodges announced on The DragonVale Community Forum and DragonVale subreddit about the release:
“ | Hi everyone, my name is Aubrey Hodges and I was the composer and sound designer for Dragonvale until Backflip was shut down. I have just released the Dragonvale Soundtrack Collection here: https://aubreyhodges.bandcamp.com/album/dragonvale-soundtrack-collection?fbclid=IwY2xjawJs-W5leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHtROdtzbG2FKB8vqBetflBkWOsxOtbSIUBK-BeMzBTK0AQjgXuW3qFO91w7L_aem_hTg_vm3DnzOg5N49NN_BUA I have included 47 tracks from the game and 2 bonus tracks for a total of 49 tracks. These are the original masters and are of the highest quality. I loved my years at Backflip and I have many fond memories of creating the soundtrack for such an inspired and beautifully crafted game. The folks at Backflip really allowed me to express my creativity and set a tone for the game that always felt like the warmth of coming home. Years ago I did create a very limited soundtrack release but I had always meant to go back and craft a more complete version but life just kept getting in the way. Well, I finally got it accomplished and am really happy to share it with you all. I sincerely hope you all enjoy listening to it and that it brings back warm and happy memories! | ” |

Notes[]
- On April 16, 2025, the DragonVale Soundtrack Collection was announced and released.
- On the day of its release, Aubrey Hodges posted the following in the comments of his original Reddit post in reply to an inquiry about the use of an AI (artificial intelligence) image being used for the album cover:
- "Although I own the rights to the music...I do not have permission to use the Dragonvale logo and trademarks etc. I suppose I could reach out to the folks over at DECA but this project took so long to finally get done that I thought it best to just get the thing released." [7]
- At first an AI (artificial intelligence) image of three baby dragons was used for the album cover, but this was changed shortly within a few days after the album was released.
- On the day of its release, Aubrey Hodges posted the following in the comments of his original Reddit post in reply to an inquiry about if DragonVale Soundtrack Collection will be made available on other platforms in the future:
- "Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I will be distributing the soundtrack widely across all major platforms. I have some legwork to do first as the restrictions for a few of he platforms are very strict. But I think it should be ready to submit in about a week." [8]
