Game Description
The High Plains of Faridat were visited by a frightening phenomenon that saw lightning bursts fly up from the ground and into the sky. The dwellers there named them "Darkling" strikes and would run indoors when the shocks came. That is, until Professor Olivine discovered a sneaky group of hybrid dragons were the source. The good professor gathered them in DragonVale, where their talents could be used to amaze rather than terrify.

Breeding

The Darkling Dragon can be bred by using any two dragons, in either order, containing the Dark and Lightning elements at any Breeding Cave.

Obtaining

The Darkling Dragon can be obtained by collecting a total of Ticket 6,260 during The Great Dragon Faire.

During the Roar of the Rift players were able to purchase the Darkling Dragon for Magic template 1,795.

Notes

  • On July 15, 2015, the Darkling Dragon's spot appeared in the Dragonarium, even though it had not been officially released into DragonVale yet.
    • The button indicates "Not Available" and did not change even though The Great Dragon Faire event started on July 16, 2015. Players would only be able to view the Darkling Dragon's infobox in the Dragonarium once he/she obtains it by trading a certain amount of tickets at the Prize Tent.
  • When the Darkling Dragon was first released, despite its elements being Lightning as primary and Dark as secondary, its egg was the design of a Dark primary element and Lightning secondary element dragon's egg.
    • This was rectified on July 12, 2018 when the elements were updated to match the egg design.
  • The Darkling Dragon did not have a goal when it was first released.
    • The Darkling Dragon got a goal when it was re-released on December 10, 2015.
  • The Darkling Dragon is the first dragon to have both six limbs and wings.
  • On March 25, 2019, the Darkling Dragon was changed from limited to permanent. It remained in the Celebration category and was also added to the corresponding Elemental categories in the dragonarium.
  • The Darkling Dragon is currently the only Dark element dragon which unlocks before the player's park reaches level 25. Instead, the Darkling Dragon unlocks with the Lightning element dragons at level 12.
