Players received Dark Rift Dragon eggs as a reward for casting Dark Magic during the Dark Magic Event in October and November 2013.
Breeding
The Dark Rift Dragon can be bred using any two dragons, in either order, containing the Dark and Light elements, at the Breeding Cave/Epic Breeding Island.
Breeding Multiple Rift Dragons
The Dark Rift Dragon can breed with another Dark Rift Dragon or a Light Rift Dragon for a chance to breed either another Dark Rift Dragon or a Light Rift Dragon.

- The Dark Rift Dragon was released along with the Dark Dragon, Root Dragon, Nightshade Dragon, Fungus Dragon,Watch Dragon, Dungeon Dragon, Cave Dragon, Dark Element Flag, Erebus Ostracon, Dark Habitat, Large Dark Habitat, and the Giant Dark Habitat.
- The Dark Rift Dragon did not have a breeding hint when it was first released.
- The Dark Rift Dragon got a breeding hint when it was re-released on December 13, 2013.
- The Dark Rift Dragon did not have a goal when it was first released.
- The Dark Rift Dragon got a goal when it was re-released on December 18, 2014.
- At 3,650 gems, the Dark Rift Dragon along with the Light Rift Dragon, and the Ovalith Dragon are the most expensive dragons in the market.
