Obtaining
The Bone Dragon could be obtained by collecting a total of 
1,495 during Whitbee's Candy Bash 3: The Sweetening.
The Bone Dragon could be obtained by collecting a total of 1,560 during Whitbee's Candy Bash IV: Tails From The Campfire.
During Whitbee's Candy Bash V: The Candied Conjuring, the Bone Dragon could be purchased for 500, but it was only available in the Night tier.
During Whitbee's Candy Bash VI: The Haunted Hunt, players could purchase the Bone Dragon for 950.
Breeding
The Bone Dragon can be bred by using any two dragons, in either order, containing the Fire and Earth elements at the Breeding Cave/Epic Breeding Island.

Notes
- In addition to its affiliated decorations, the Bone Dragon was released along with the Sandstorm Dragon, Traditional Villa, Cozy Dogen, Thatched Roof Cottage, and the Fire Dragon Statue.
- The Bone Dragon was the first dragon to have its own limited decoration.
- The Bone Dragon is the first limited dragon to be officially re-released.
- The Firework Dragon was made available on August 22, 2012, after being expired, although this was assumed to be a game glitch.
- The baby Bone Dragon's appearance in the game differs from the one in the sneak peek on DragonVale's Facebook page.
- When the Bone Dragon was initially released, it was impossible to tell if you had bred a Bone Dragon or a Lava Dragon until you hatched the egg, as they both used the Lava Dragon egg.
