Possible References

  • The River Ambrosia is likely a reference to ambrosia, the food of the gods in ancient Greek mythology.
    • In Greek mythology, the terms "nectar" and "ambrosia" are often used interchangeably, although sometimes one is named the drink of the gods, and the other the food.
    • This also ties in with the recurring location Mount Oly's name being based on Mount Olympus, the home of the Greek gods.
    • Another reference to Greek mythology is the witch Tantalia, who may be named after Tantalus, a king who was invited to dine on Mount Olympus, but tried to steal the gods' ambrosia and nectar and bring it back to his people. For this he was punished for eternity in Tartarus, where he was forced to stand in a river up to his chin, with fruit on branches just above his head which retreated whenever he reached out for them.
  • The goal completion text for the Nectar Dragon reads "Your guests will be all abuzz to see this dragon". This may be a reference to animals such as bees and hummingbirds, which feed primarily on nectar and making a buzzing sound while they fly.
